Bob and Matt Brensel of ScriptWorks Pharmacy recently traveled to Washington, D.C. for the PCCA Legislative Conference.

They joined compounding pharmacists from across the country to advocate for patient access and personalized medicine. On May 12–13, they met with senators and House representatives, including District Representative Mark DeSaulnier.

One key topic was access to compounded desiccated thyroid medication.
Highlights:
- Current FDA guidance may affect access after August 2026 unless the agency changes its position.
- The proposed PEAT Act is intended to address the FDA’s classification of thyroid as a biologic.
- Over 2 million people may lose access to thyroid medication
- About 90 PCCA compounding pharmacists met with 150 congressional offices during the conference.
