Maybe you’ve stopped the obvious habits, drinking, overeating, overspending, but still find yourself stuck in the same emotional loops with your kids, your partner, or even your own thoughts. You wake up thinking, “Today will be different,” and somehow end up in the same reactions by evening. You’re not alone in that, and you’re not failing.

Often, this isn’t about willpower at all. It’s about Somatic memories. Body-held impressions of past experiences that quietly shape how we see ourselves and how we respond when life feels intense. We’re not just reacting to what’s in front of us, but to everything our body remembers, even when our mind has no words for it.

You know those moments when your child does something so small… and your reaction feels so big?

You snap. You shut down. You suddenly “need to leave.”

And afterward, you’re swimming in guilt and shame, wondering, “Why did I react like that? What’s wrong with me?”

From a Somatic perspective, that reaction often isn’t about your child at all. It’s your nervous system recognizing something familiar and slipping into protection mode long before your thinking brain can catch up.

When you start to notice the early signs in your body, your breath changing, your jaw tightening, your chest closing. You can create a pause between the trigger and your response. In that pause, you have a chance to show up as the mother you want to be, not just the one your conditioning rehearsed.

What if your next “trigger moment” could be the beginning of a new way of relating to your child, and to your Self?

Perspective is the bigger lens you see your life through. The beliefs you hold about what’s right, wrong, possible, or hopeless.

Perception is your in-the-moment experience of a situation, how your body reacts, what your senses take in, how it all feels right now.

Both are shaped by Somatic memories, the stored imprints of your past experiences.

When you start to notice your body’s responses with curiosity rather than criticism, you begin to loosen the grip those old blueprints have on your present.

That’s where true change begins: not by forcing yourself to “be better,” but by understanding what your body is trying to protect you from.

Motherhood has been the most challenging and the most rewarding experience of my life… and also the one that has stirred up the most guilt and “I’m failing” stories.

No one gives us a real manual, and even when we “do everything right,” there are no guarantees our kids will feel perfect or that we’ll feel like we’re getting it right.

To the mother who feels like she’s always “too much” or “not enough” – this is for you.

Most of us went into motherhood without a true manual, just a mix of advice, cultural expectations, and our own unfinished stories. We promise ourselves, “I’ll never do what was done to me,” or “I’ll give my kids everything I didn’t get.” And then, in moments of stress, our body does exactly what it learned decades ago.

That doesn’t mean you’re failing. It means your nervous system is doing its best to keep you safe with the tools it knows. Somatic healing is about updating those tools, through the body, not just the mind.

When we bring the body into the process, something softens. The mom-guilt loosens. We find a tiny pause between trigger and reaction. We start to feel just a little more choice. Over time, that pause becomes a doorway into a different way of mothering, one that includes you, your needs, and your humanity.

If you’re noticing old patterns you don’t like, that’s not a reason to shame yourself. It’s actually a sign that you’re ready for something new.
