Do you wonder if something you're experiencing is normal?

When it comes to grief, "normal" means something is typical & experienced by many people.

In this context, "normal" DOES NOT mean that what you're experiencing doesn't suck. Or that you should simply be able to shrug it off.

We discuss all sorts of symptoms of grief in my monthly group. We meet every 4th Thursday, and sessions are always recorded for later viewing. Join us at patreon.com/megandevine

🔔 NOTE: If you're concerned about any symptoms, please speak to your doctor or healthcare advisor. That some things CAN be grief-related doesn't automatically mean they are. 🔔

We often say "I am angry" or "I am sad," as if the emotion has become our entire identity. This is where we lose our peace—by mistaking the weather for the sky. The sky remains constant regardless of whether there is a storm or a sunset.

The goal isn't to stop having emotions; that's impossible. The goal is to develop the awareness to observe them without being consumed by them. You can acknowledge the anger, listen to what it has to say, and then politely show it to the door. You are the space where these things happen, but you are not the things themselves.
