It’s no secret that most people find classically based Pilates in their 40’s. If you are on the fence here are some reasons to start.
A 6-month Pilates-based exercise program improved several postural-alignment measures in healthy adult women, including shoulder alignment, head position, and pelvic alignment.

Reformer Pilates improved functional mobility, balance, and lower-extremity range of motion in adults over 65 at risk for falling. A randomized controlled trial found that 10 weekly Reformer sessions improved functional mobility, static and dynamic balance, balance self-efficacy, and hip and ankle active range of motion compared with no exercise.

A 2024 randomized controlled study assigned 70 sedentary women ages 18–45 to a combined mat-and-equipment Pilates program or control group. After 10 weeks, the Pilates group showed improvements in fatigue and physical self-perception measures.

Long airport corridors, stairs, uneven streets, luggage, boats, gardens, museums, and long dinners all ask something of the body. Pilates can help support the balance, mobility, strength, posture, and movement confidence that make travel feel less physically demanding.
