A healthcare facility is not merely a building; it is a sanctuary for health and healing. The atmosphere of a clinic often influences patients’ overall experience, shaping their perception of care and even affecting their health outcomes. The journey began with a determined effort to secure funding to address long-overdue improvements. The Community Foundation of Central Georgia grant application process required us to present a detailed plan outlining how the funds would be utilized to modernize and maintain the clinic.

The grant allowed us to completely revitalize the clinic’s interiors, making it more inviting and functional for everyone who walks through our doors. The exterior of the clinic was also rejuvenated to reflect the care and dedication within. While the grant allowed us to transform our clinic’s physical environment, it also symbolized something much larger—a renewed commitment to serving our patients and community with the utmost care and respect.

The grant has been a blessing for our clinic, enabling us to achieve what once seemed impossible. The facility now stands as a beacon of care, compassion, and community pride. We are deeply grateful for this opportunity and for the trust placed in us by The Community Foundation of Central Georgia and the community.

The Houston County Volunteer Medical Clinic will be hosting a charity golf tournament, Friday, October 3, 2025, to benefit their non-profit facility that provides free medical care to the working, uninsured citizens of Houston County.

The doctors, nurses and staff all volunteer their time to provide this care two evenings per week. The clinic depends on donated funds to provide this care to those in our community who have no other resources for health care.

I have attached the flyer as well as the tournament brochure and am hoping to gain your support this year. We would also love for you to come out to this event or put a team together. There are 8 am and 1 pm tee times available. All contributions are tax deductible as allowed by law. Please let me know if you have any questions or might be interested in participating in this great event.

Houston County Volunteer Medical Clinic: 20 Years of Compassionate Care for the Working Uninsured

Since its doors first opened in January 2005, the Houston County Volunteer Medical Clinic (HCVMC) has been a beacon of hope and healing for the working uninsured of Houston County. Founded with a simple yet powerful mission — to provide free, quality, and compassionate medical care — the clinic continues to be a vital resource for those who might otherwise fall through the cracks of the healthcare system.

Staffed entirely by dedicated volunteer medical professionals, the clinic operates three days a week, offering primary care services to residents who are employed but lack access to affordable health insurance. These volunteers, from physicians to nurses and administrative staff, generously donate their time and expertise, making it possible to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care without charge.

"Our volunteers are the heart of the clinic," said a clinic representative. "Without their commitment, we simply couldn't do what we do."

The clinic’s ability to serve the community is also made possible through generous support from Central Georgia grants, local businesses, and individual donors. These contributions help fund medical supplies, administrative costs, and prescription assistance programs that make a real difference in patients’ lives.

How You Can Help
The Houston County Volunteer Medical Clinic welcomes support from those who wish to contribute to its mission — whether through financial donations, in-kind gifts, or volunteering time. For more information, please call Clinic Director, Pat Butler at (478) 923-9730.
