Focus for Health Foundation

Focus for Health Foundation Focus for Health addresses the structures within our society that create and perpetuate health inequality

We are focused on correcting the systemic injustices that prevent people from remaining healthy and happy. Our expansive approach to health addresses wealth distribution, racial exclusion, gender inequality, political and tax reform, and sex abuse. The most fundamental aspect that determines individual health is the matrix of interactions within which individuals function on a daily basis. Establishing and protecting social equality is the unifying thread to our comprehensive array of actions.

🌟 Welcome to the Focus for Health Family! 🌟

We are excited to introduce our newest grantee partner, Lift Every Voice Philly.

Lift Every Voice Philly is a Black-led, multiracial organization that builds parent power to advance education, racial, and economic justice in Philadelphia’s public schools. Their work focuses on communities that have been historically underserved and denied access to safe, stable, well-resourced schools, using a two-generation model that empowers parents to lead while staying grounded in the needs of their children.

At Focus for Health Foundation, we believe lasting change happens when communities have a voice in the decisions that affect their lives. We are proud to support organizations like Lift Every Voice Philly that are creating pathways for family leadership and educational equity. You can learn more: www.lifteveryvoicephilly.org

Recently, they shared the sweetest ideas for solo spring dates, and we loved it so much we had to run it back 🌸

Taking time for yourself isn’t selfish, it’s restorative. Whether it’s a walk in the sunshine, journaling in your favorite spot, or trying something new just for you, these small moments can make a big impact on your mental well-being.

Consider this your gentle reminder: you deserve your own care, attention, and joy.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month đź’š

At Focus for Health Foundation, we believe that mental health is just as important as physical health. Taking time to care for your mind isn’t a luxury; it’s essential.

Check in with yourself. Reach out to someone you trust. And remember: asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Let’s break the stigma, start conversations, and support one another, today and every day.

At Focus for Health Foundation, we’re proud to uplift the work of Social Change Community Farm and the powerful transformation taking root in Englewood.

What began as a vacant lot is now an officially recognized farm — Farm #2360.

This milestone represents more than a designation. It reflects ownership, food sovereignty, and long-term investment in building community-led infrastructure on Chicago’s South Side.
Through this work, resources are being redirected into the community, creating sustainable pathways for access to fresh food, economic opportunity, and collective power.
And the work continues to grow. 🌻The farm is currently welcoming spring and summer volunteers to help plant, build, and harvest; no experience needed. Upcoming gardening and food sovereignty workshops will also be hosted at the Chicago Public Library West Englewood Branch.

This is what community-driven health and prevention look like in action.

This Black Maternal Health Week (April 11–17), we stand for equity, dignity, and safe, respectful care for every mother. Black women in the U.S. are nearly 3× more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes. These disparities reflect urgent gaps in care, access, and accountability that must be addressed. Let’s listen, advocate, and work together to ensure every mother receives the protection, respect, and support she deserves before, during, and after pregnancy.
