Training and certification may be connected. But they are not the same step.

A school, instructor or training program may provide education, practical learning and applicable hands-on experience.

National Performance Specialists has a different role. NPS is a national certification and examination provider.

NPS reviews certification eligibility under its current requirements, administers certification examinations, issues NPS credentials, supports renewal and provides official verification of NPS-issued credentials.

Why does that distinction matter?

Because completing training does not automatically mean every certification requirement has been met and earning a certification does not replace employer, facility or state requirements that may apply afterward.
