Today (6/10/26), American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP) Executive Director Laura Farr joined Ohio Naturopathic Doctors Association (OHNDA) President Dr. Jacob Wolf, along with Ohio naturopathic doctors Dr. Kristy Anderson and Dr. Tracey Cook, in providing proponent testimony before the Ohio Senate Health Committee in support of naturopathic licensure in Ohio.

Together, they echoed the importance of naturopathic licensure, not only to protect the healthcare rights and needs of Ohio residents, but also to support qualified naturopathic doctors who live in Ohio and wish to practice and serve their communities.

Today marked an important step forward in the licensure journey for the naturopathic profession. As we continue working toward licensure in all 50 states, we recognize that achieving this goal requires dedication, persistence, and collaboration. In case you missed our member communications, here's a look at what we've been doing to protect naturopathic medicine:

- Submitted comments to the HHS MAHA Commission Healthcare Advisory Committee, outlining our profession's key priorities and recommendations for federal healthcare policy.
- Together with the AANMC and multiple AANP affiliates, submitted comments on the Department of Education's AHEAD: Student Tuition and Transparency System and Earnings Accountability Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, highlighting flawed methodology and making recommendations for more statistically valid approaches to measuring accountability for academic programs.
- Alerted our community to a prestigious opportunity to apply for appointment to the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) and coordinated organizational support from our academic partners and affiliates to help our candidates put their best application forward.
Naturopathic Doctors belong at the highest levels of federal health policy. We'll keep fighting to make sure NDs are visible and our collective voice is heard.

Gregory Yasuda, ND: NDs Doing Cool Things

In Winter of 2025, Gregory Yasuda, ND, introduced a group medical model at the Bastyr Center for Natural Health in Seattle, WA called Foundations 360. Instead of a traditional 1-on-1 model of care, they invite a cohort of patients to spend three hours together as a group along with Dr. Yasuda and his student clinicians, where they get to lean into the principles of naturopathic medicine. Most chronic conditions are rooted in diet and lifestyle issues, but making changes at this level is very difficult, whether you have 15- or 60-minute visits. According to Dr. Yasuda, adults learn better in groups, and in this format, they not only show patients what to do, but also how to do it by providing more time to teach, ask questions, troubleshoot, set and refine goals, and support one another. Dr. Yasuda states, “I’ve never been so happy with my ability to deeply address the determinants of health with my patients until now. Students enjoy having the time and space to slow down, focus on the fundamentals, follow a patient for an entire quarter, and really see the medicine work. Patients also love it, and so do I. Obviously, this does not replace 1-on-1 visits, but I really think these group delivered service models are a fantastic addition to how we deliver naturopathic care."
