🚨 Important Announcement: Stand up to protect nursing leadership at the Iowa Board of Nursing.

A proposed change to Iowa Code Chapter 152 would remove the current requirement that the Executive Director of the Iowa Board of Nursing be a licensed Registered Nurse (RN).

Why is this concerning? Nursing expertise is essential to regulatory leadership, the Iowa BON regulates the state’s largest licensed healthcare workforce, and the RN requirement preserves knowledgeable oversight of nursing education programs. 

🗣️ Please take action! Reach out to the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing (DIAL) to share your concerns and explain why having a licensed RN serve as Executive Director matters to you, the nursing profession, and the future of patient care in Iowa.

What a great weekend at the Fall IANA Educational Meeting! We had an incredible weekend filled with learning, collaboration, and hands-on education. Our vascular access workshop and pediatric and OB simulations provided valuable opportunities to build skills, practice techniques, and learn together.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this weekend a success! 🙌

💙 Thank you to our CRNAs who volunteered their time and expertise to help make our simulations engaging, realistic, and educational.

💙 Thank you to our Education Committee for all the hard work and dedication that went into planning and organizing such a fantastic weekend of educational content.

💙 And finally, thank you to all the CRNAs and SRNAs who attended and participated! We know you have many options when it comes to continuing education, and we are truly grateful that you chose IANA for your CEUs. Your participation and support are what make these events so meaningful.

We are proud to support our anesthesia community through education, collaboration, and continued professional growth. We look forward to seeing everyone at our next meeting in April!

🚨 CRNAdvocacy Alert: Ask Your Senators to Sign Letter Supporting Supervision Removal

Only a few days left to follow the link and urge your Senators to sign the letter telling CMS to eliminate this burdensome requirement before the October 9th deadline!

Medicare currently requires physician supervision of CRNAs unless a state has opted out of the federal supervision requirement. Today, 27 states, Guam, and Washington, D.C., have opted out (including Iowa!).

Senators Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) and Jeff Merkley (D-OR) are leading an effort asking CMS to remove the federal supervision requirement for CRNAs.
