Dr. Jemsek has transitioned from practicing medicine to focusing on patient advocacy and advancing the public’s understanding of tick-borne diseases. From 2009 to 2025, the Jemsek Specialty Clinic (JSC), in Washington, D.C., was a bastion of hope for disenfranchised patients around the world. The infectious disease practice was dedicated to the treatment of Lyme disease (Lyme borreliosis complex)

and its associated conditions. Founded by Dr. Joseph Jemsek, a thought leader in the field since 2001, JSC was a world-renowned destination practice, welcoming patients from 50 US states and more than 40 countries. In the summer of 2025, after many years of service to thousands of patients, JSC closed its doors and Dr. Jemsek transitioned from practicing medicine to focusing on patient advocacy and advancing the public’s understanding of tick-borne diseases.
