Ocular Melanoma Foundation

Ocular Melanoma Foundation OMF is a resource for eye cancer research funding and patient/caregiver support and assistance.

The Ocular Melanoma Foundation was founded in 2003 by Dr. Robert C. Allen, a Harvard-and-Hopkins-trained ophthalmologist and pharmacologist, and his son, Grant, a venture capital investor. Dr. Allen was also an OM patient, and in confronting this relatively rare disease as both doctor and patient, he was struck by the lack of up-to-date treatment information available to patients, their families,

and healthcare professionals as well as the paucity of research initiatives devoted to ocular melanoma as a distinct form of melanoma. Today, we are one of the leading destinations online for OM-related information, OMF is a recognized non-profit charity organization based out of Washington DC committed to accelerating and enhancing scientific research, advocacy, and awareness of ocular melanoma and to providing support to patients, their families, and those around them.

Shout out to the team at Copperhead Grille on an absolutely blockbuster fundraise for OMF!

THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for Copperhead Grille's 21st Annual Golf Outing!! Our annual golf outing's proceeds go to the Ocular Melanoma Foundation. Our staff are incredibly happy to announce that this year's golf outing raised $27,516.00 for an incredibly important cause.

Why the Ocular Melanoma Foundation? It is near to our hearts at Copperhead Grille. Aunt Georgia Kondoleon, passed away from this rare type of cancer. We are proud to support her legacy and have immense appreciation for everyone who has supported our family and this worthy cause over the years. We pledge to continue our work with the Ocular Melanoma Foundation and continue to support their efforts in finding a cure and making a difference in the lives of so many.

ARVO recently reached out because a family recently established an award to support research for OM, in memory of a relative who passed away. They wanted to pay for travel for the RESEARCHERS to get to the ARVO meeting, so this is different from OMF's TAG awards, which are focused on patient treatment travel.

The group is looking to raise $35,000 to endow this travel grant so it could be awarded yearly and support more researchers.
