7 Things You Didn’t Know About Me That You’re Gonna Learn Today:

✨1. Ancient Wisdom: At age 19, I joined a spiritual community where I practiced Kemetic living. These ancient principles deeply influence my yoga practice, guiding my journey and teachings, blending the old with the new.

✨2. Teaching Roots: With over a decade of experience, I’ve been recognized in publications like Yoga Journal, Mantra Wellness Magazine, and Essence. It’s been an honor to share my passion and knowledge with such a wide audience.

✨3. D.C. Connection: As a proud D.C. community member, I love extending my wisdom and healing practices to uplift others locally and beyond. Each class and workshop is a step toward fostering a healthier, more connected community. I’m excited to get things going again!

✨4. Mother and Mentor: Beyond yoga, being a mother is a huge part of my identity. It’s a constant source of inspiration and strength, enriching my approach to teaching and community building.

✨5. Mindful Healing: I’m dedicated to creating self-sustaining healing practices that empower individuals and communities. Intentional living has changed my life and I want to share this with the world.

✨6. Left-handed Life: I’m left handed, which means my brain functions a bit differently. It’s great for creativity but a challenge when it comes to seating arrangements at restaurants. I’m always battling for elbow space! 💪🏾

✨7. Fun Fact: I once led a yoga session for over 500 people at the Smithsonian Solstice event! It was an incredible experience that highlighted the power of collective healing and shared energy.

✨Bonus: I’ve had two home births, and can’t nobody tell me s**t about nothin’! 💪🏾✨

If we haven’t met yet, please introduce yourself. If you’re shy, feel free to hop in my DM’s sans the funny business.

Much love!

♾️
There is a fire in the pit of my belly. It is destructive, transformative, and empowering.

This Saturday night at 8:45pm, I have the pleasure of teaming up with my friends at the for Summer Solstice Glow Yoga to ignite the flame that lives in us all.

The Solar Plexus (chakra/seat of power) relates to our natural ability to guide the course of our lives through an active and empowered will.

As we align with yesterday's Summer Solstice, we focus on our personal pursuits and enjoy the fruits of our labor from season's past.

In Saturday's fire-building practice, we draw awareness to cleansing the body from patterns that no longer serve us while creating space for meaningful manifestation. We use our mind, body, and spirit to offer our gratitude to the transformative energy of the Sun and close with a sound healing meditation led by & to move beyond fear and support the steady flame we carry with us off of the mat and into the world.

This practice is suitable for all levels, so visit my bio, spread the word, and bring a friend (or two). We look forward to seeing you shine.✨✨✨

Sihnuu Reflections of Light (You).

I am my own truth, and in some instances, I am yours. While we are different, we are also one. We hurt, we feel rage, and we have suffered injustices. We have our unique stories, and have been called to interweave our narratives in the same lifetime. The load we carry has been heavy, but we find the light by each other’s grace. There is no greater teacher, life traveler, or reflection that I know more impactful than you. Thank you for continuing to share your path with me.

Save and revisit this post for when love falls off track.

Love, by definition, is a profoundly abiding liking for something. In my childhood, I saw romantic images in fairytales. From birth and as we develop, we have the chance to experience storge, or familial love from our parents/caregivers, relatives, and dearest friends. It is described as infinite and deep. Yet, the most essential type of love, self-love, we often don't grasp until we are well into adulthood. Even when we find it, the ride isn't always smooth, and sometimes, we fall off course completely. I've felt an affinity for love in theory while struggling with it in action for most of my life. There are still days I have to push my heart to open. I spent most of my twenties with a mind full of fantasies around intimacy and a heart longing more than what my outer world and connections could fulfill. Even surrounded by friends and family, I wanted more. Leaning more into spirituality, I learned it was me that I wanted the whole time.

7 Notes For When Self-Love Feels Shakey:

- Compassion is the gateway to proper understanding and self-acceptance.

- Care is elemental. It is not a luxury.

- The challenges we've faced and continue to face in my life are not indicators of our deservedness of love.

- Even on the days when it's hard for us to love ourselves, we are still worthy.

- Holding space for tears is a form of deep loving.

- We can create the narrative around how we choose to love and be loved.

-Love is our birthright. We have agency over this love story.

For musings and guidance, visit my bio. I hope you connect to the love you deserve today and all days along your journey.

Yours in love and wellness,

Sihnuu Hetep 💚

Me and my forever

I don't have all the answer's to motherhood, but I know for sure this girl fuels my fire. Her existence calls me to be curious about the way I see the world, challenges me to soften, and reminds me that I can create and sustain something beautiful. I am feeling grateful today to be Yazi's mama.

Asé.
