We do this through dance, movement, play, games, and inter-subjective meditation (We Spaces). Camp Contact is an experiential and experimental laboratory which seeks to ask the question “What is human connection?” Default culture has bred the message that connection is obtainable through objects and actions. We propose that connection is obtainable through connecting. But how is that done and, at
its core, what is connection? How can I contact Thou? Our laboratory shines a potent beam of illumination on all that we hold sacred: personal space, boundaries, definition of self, energy, physicality. These were all tools necessary for our earliest walk in this world and they are now paradoxically that which prevents of from returning to that authenticity and union which calls us all. We have no specific answers. But we love doing experiments. Most yield potent fruit from which each of us individually draws insight and strength. Camp Contact is devoted to providing a space for Contact Improvisation Dance & related forms at Burning Man and other regional events. We gather to offer classes and workshops within dance spaces that we erect, and to be a part of a temporary intentional community that values awareness and conscious intention while celebrating the dance.
