Giving birth in a hospital doesn't have to mean that your birth preferences and plans will be overlooked. It means that you will have to advocate for yourself and stick to your plan, considering that your health and baby's health remains safe to do so. You may also benefit from hiring a doula .

Homebirth with just mom, dad and a dark room. Not the easiest to see but you can feel the very apparent support, love and warmth in the room. Babies dont need a full medical team and staff on srand by for a medical emergency that usually never occurs. We understand being safe and having coverage for the "what ifs" BUT labor and childbirth should be viewed as being more sacred and beautiful than scary and intimidating.

Made at home. Born at home. This is the choice that myself and my family made not once, not twice, but three times. Black women do homebirth.

Without a midwife

Without fear

Without self doubt

But with the energy of God present.

Just because your water breaks today does not mean that you will or have to give birth today. Your body will also make more amniotic fluid as long as it knows that the baby is there and thriving ✨️ 😉. Labor will start when its needed to. Contractions can start before or after your water breaks.

You should have a natural birth, even if you're not having a home birth. Natural birth is safe when you pregnancy is low risk. You increase the risk when you allow interventions during your pregnancy, labor and birth. Your baby will work with you to be born. Intentional movement, hydration, real food, meditation and time spent in nature are medicine and the ingredients to a safe and smooth prefnancy and birth. Contractions are your body's way of telling you that it can birth your baby. Dilation is your body's way of telling you that its already working on gently and slowly opening to birth your baby. Your body is capable. 💪🏾🤰🏾🤱🏾✨️

The placement of your placenta can make it easy or more difficult to feel baby's movements and hear baby's heartbeat in the womb. You may feel them early in the pregnancy or late into the pregnancy. Dont worry. Its not dangerous for the baby if your placenta is anterior meaning closer to your belly than your back or in the front of the baby instead of behind the baby. An anterior placenta cushions much of baby's movements and kicks until baby is much bigger when their movements are more easily noticeable. 🤰🏾 😊 It is said that mother's with an anterior placenta may have a longer or more painful labor due to the babys position due to where the is in the uterus 😆 🤣. Pregnancies and births can differ because of how baby and the placenta are positioned and arranged. Not to mention the health of the placenta determines the health of the baby. A healthy placenta is key. A well implanted placenta is key. Movement to help the baby get into the best position for labor is key.

Read books, talk to pregnant women and new moms, talk to the elder women as well. Learn about natural remedies and natural childbirth. Hire a doula, use a midwife.

We should be teaching the younger girls about their body, the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, puberty, menopause, etc. Girls shouldn't have to learn on their own as they go. A lot can be prevented if taught early how to take care of their body, inside and out.

Books, videos, word of mouth, first hand experiences such as witnessing the birth of a baby and seeing women breastfeed around them.

These things are not too advanced or mature to present to girls who are curious and need to know.
