Updated Transportation Cancellation Schedule for Mon 10/24 click www.matsuk12.us/buscancellations

Dear MSBSD Families,
Yesterday, the District’s new school bus contractor, Durham School Services, shared that they will not have enough bus drivers to run all regular education routes in the core area, due to the national bus driver shortage and competition with tour bus companies. The unexpected driver shortage will require rolling transportation cancellations for the start of this school year, with an update by Friday, August 26. We know how disruptive rolling bus cancellations can be to family schedules.

The District continues to partner with Durham School Services to promote local recruiting efforts. If you know of anyone who is interested in becoming a school bus driver, please apply here or contact (907) 885-3561.

The rolling bus cancellations will not impact special education routes. The schedule for regular education transportation cancellations can be found at www.matsuk12.us/buscancellations.

Shuttles supporting American Charter, Burchell High School, Career & Tech High School, Mat-Su Middle College and Valley Pathways will be canceled on the same day buses are canceled at the students’ boundary school (e.g., there will be no shuttle to Career & Tech HS from Palmer HS on the day that Palmer HS has no buses).
All absences will be excused for any students who are unable to attend in-person due to bus cancellations. Please connect directly with your child’s school and/or teachers if you need support in making up work.

Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we work through this.
Sincerely,
Dr. Randy Trani, MSBSD Superintendent

Attention Alaska! Effective immediately we will only be issuing one license plate to customers.

The law has now changed to require that all vehicles are only required to display one registration plate. For noncommercial vehicles the plate is required to be displayed on the rear of the vehicle and for commercial vehicles the plate is required to be displayed on the front of the vehicle.

The plate with the month/year tab must be displayed either in the front or the back, depending on if it’s registered commercially or noncommercially

How do you know if your vehicle is registered commercially?
The law that passed yesterday uses the Department of Transportations (DOT) definition of commercial motor vehicle. For more information, please see the link below.
