I recently completed a new patient evaluation, and her story is one I hear often.

Busy.
Successful.
Holding everything together.

HIIT.
Intermittent fasting.
Strength training.
High protein.
Low carb.

Running on caffeine, stress hormones, and sheer determination.

Working so hard, yet feeling completely stuck.

But underneath it all?

Poor sleep.
Chronic stress.
Hormonal shifts.
Blood sugar instability.
A nervous system that hasn’t truly felt safe enough to rest in years.

At some point, the body starts asking for a different approach.

Not more discipline.
Not more restriction.
Not another diet.

More support.
More recovery.
More restoration.

That’s where we start. Link in bio.

“If I wanted to lose 10 pounds in the next 60 days, the first thing I would NOT do is completely stress my body out trying to force it.”

Because honestly?
I see so many women doing exactly that.

They’re barely eating.
Living on caffeine.
Doing intense workouts.
Sleeping terribly.
Running on stress hormones and willpower.

And then feeling frustrated, discouraged, and wondering why nothing seems to work anymore.

But the body adapts.

A stressed, exhausted body is often not a very responsive body.

And I think this is where so many women get stuck.

They think they need:
more discipline,
more restriction,
more cardio,
more pressure.

When a lot of the time, the body is actually asking for better signals.

Better sleep.
More protein.
More muscle support.
Better blood sugar balance.
Less all-or-nothing behavior.
More consistency.
More recovery.

And when women don’t understand that, they often end up frustrated, beating themselves up, and eventually just giving up.

And when we support those foundational pieces first — sleep, protein, blood sugar balance, muscle support, nervous system regulation — and THEN thoughtfully layer in tools like GLP-1s, hormone replacement, or targeted supplements…

the transformation can be incredibly powerful.

Sustainable fat loss is not about punishing your body.

It’s about helping your metabolism finally feel supported enough to respond.

What I’d Do If I Wanted To Repair My Circadian Rhythm Without Relying on Stimulants or Sedatives

Sleep supplements can sometimes take the edge off.

But they don’t necessarily rebuild your rhythm.

That’s why I don’t start with melatonin, sedatives, or more caffeine.

I start by asking:

Why is the rhythm off in the first place?

Here’s what I look at:

→ Cortisol timing

Is your body peaking too early… or too late?

→ Morning light exposure

Does your brain actually recognize when it’s time to wake up and feel alert?

→ Nervous system load

Is your body still stuck in “go mode” when you’re trying to wind down?

→ Hormonal support

Are estrogen, progesterone, or testosterone influencing sleep quality and recovery?

Sleep isn’t a switch.

It’s a cascade of signals.

And when we identify where those signals are getting disrupted, we can start rebuilding a rhythm your body can actually follow.

Last night I tried something different.

Instead of taking my progesterone right before bed, I took it around 7:30 with my magnesium and then went for a slow walk outside.

No screens.
No rushing.
No multitasking.

Just fresh air, the sunset reflecting on the water, lilacs blooming everywhere, and my body finally getting the message that it was safe to slow down.

By the time I got home, the combination of the progesterone, magnesium, movement, fresh air, and intentionally winding my nervous system down felt like magic.

I climbed into bed sleepy instead of exhausted-but-wired.

And honestly?
I slept incredibly well.

Even my Oura ring showed almost 2 hours of deep sleep.

The progesterone and magnesium absolutely helped.

But I really think it was the combination of ALL of those signals together that made such a difference.

The light changing.
Getting off screens.
Moving my body gently.
Fresh air.
Safety.
Stillness.
Rhythm.
Hormonal support.

Our bodies are constantly responding to these signals.

Sleep isn’t a switch.
It’s a cascade of messages telling the nervous system:
“You’re safe now. You can power down.”

And sometimes the smallest shifts create the biggest changes.

If you feel like your body fights every attempt at fat loss,
even when your nutrition and workouts are dialed in,
you may not be weight loss resistant.

You may be inflamed.

Here’s what chronic low-grade inflammation does to the body:

→ Disrupts insulin signaling so blood sugar becomes more unstable
→ Slows metabolic function so your body burns fewer calories even at rest
→ Increases water retention so the scale keeps creeping up and clothes stop fitting comfortably
→ Interferes with mitochondrial energy production so you have less energy to work out and recover

In other words:

Your metabolism shifts from performance mode to protection mode.

This is why calorie restriction alone eventually stops working.

Because the issue isn’t always effort.
It’s physiologic stress and inflammatory load.

In our practice, we assess inflammation drivers like:

✔ Gut health imbalance
✔ Chronic stress
✔ Blood sugar instability
✔ Hormonal dysfunction
✔ Sleep disruption

Then we create a plan that lowers inflammatory burden before pushing harder on fat loss.

Because when inflammation drops, your metabolism often becomes responsive again.

☑️ If you’re tired of working harder for fewer results, it may be time to calm the system, not cut more calories.

📲 Save this if your weight loss has stalled in a way that makes no sense.

I think we’re missing a real opportunity to talk about progesterone support earlier and more often in women’s health.
So many women know something is shifting in their body long before they’re taken seriously.
Meanwhile they’re struggling with:
poor sleep
anxiety
mood changes
migraines
feeling more reactive or inflamed
feeling stuck in their own body

Progesterone affects far more than just periods or the uterus. We have progesterone receptors throughout the body, including the brain and nervous system.
And some women notice significant improvements when progesterone is supported appropriately.

Women know their bodies.
We should listen sooner.
Listening is part of good healthcare too.

If you’re wondering whether progesterone support might be right for you, my Balanced Mapping Session is designed to help look at the bigger picture.

If your allergies suddenly seem worse after 35… it may not be “just allergies.”

In perimenopause, progesterone is often the first hormone to start declining while estrogen becomes more erratic. And estrogen can potentiate histamine response in the body.

This is one reason some women suddenly notice:
worse seasonal allergies
headaches or migraines
itching or flushing
more inflammation
poor sleep
feeling more anxious or reactive overall

I’ve also had many women tell me their allergies improved once progesterone was supported.

Hormones affect way more than just periods.

Your body systems are connected — and feeling “off” isn’t usually random.

If you feel like your body no longer responds the way it used to — despite trying harder, eating less, or “doing everything right” — you are not alone.

I just posted a new blog about silent inflammation, survival mode, hormones, stress, and one of the biggest reasons so many women feel stuck after 35.

Often, the answer is not more restriction. It’s supporting the body in a way that allows it to feel safe enough to respond again.

If you’re eating everything in sight at night…and the cravings won’t stop…this is not a control issue.

This is a really common pattern I see keeping women stuck.

Under fueling all day, not enough protein, running on caffeine. This causes unstable blood sugars, triggers your stress hormones and then when you slow down in the evenings, your body forces you to catch up at night.

DM me GUIDE and I’ll send you the most common patterns I see that keep women stuck.
