Football season is almost here, and that means concussion questions are coming too.
If your child takes a hard hit and develops a headache, dizziness, confusion, trouble concentrating, or just seems "off," it is worth getting checked.

Concussions are diagnosed through a medical evaluation, not a single test or scan. Recovery recommendations have changed over the years too, with a gradual return to school and normal activities usually preferred after the first one to two days.
Most importantly, athletes should not return to play until they have been properly cleared and completed the recommended return-to-play steps.

At Watkinsville Urgent Care, we are here to help evaluate concussions and guide young athletes back to play safely!

Is it a Sprain or a Strain?

Sprain: Injury to the "stabilizers" (ligaments).
Strain: Injury to the "movers" (muscles or tendons).

Quick Tips
Warm Up: Spend five minutes doing dynamic stretches before jumping into a sport or heavy yard work.
Watch your step: If you cannot put weight on the limb or take more than a few steps, professional evaluation is highly recommended.
Hydrate! Dehydrated muscles are more prone to cramping and subsequent strains.
