We provide family-centered care that addresses the emotional, practical and financial struggles for families of children and teens during treatment, families experiencing anticipatory grief and those who are bereaved. We envision a community where every child with a serious or life-threatening condition has a strong, supported and informed family empowered to fully participate in their care.

As graduation season comes to an end, we want to say a huge congratulations to all of our graduates! 🎓🎉

From preschool to college, Jacob’s Heart got to celebrate our kiddos, siblings, parents, and even staff who have graduated this year. What a huge accomplishment this is, we are so proud of all of you! We are grateful to be by each family's side as their kiddos close this chapter and move onto the next. 💗

Because of our Full Hearts program, our families can rely on receiving nutritious groceries each week! 🍎

Each family receives two bags, one with fresh produce and one with dry goods. Whether it lifts the burden of grocery costs, food insecurity, or even access to fruits and veggies, we know that each food item makes a difference for families. When you are battling pediatric cancer, the last thing you want to worry about is getting food on the table for your kiddo. 🥗❤️

Some weeks, we’re able to include fresh eggs in bags for families, but we need egg cartons to make it happen! Before you toss your empty egg cartons, consider giving them a second life. Collect clean cartons from your family, friends, neighbors, or coworkers and drop them off at our Family Center. This donation makes all the difference for our Full Hearts program, thank you! ❣️🌟

It has been a busy few months for our transportation program! 🚗

In May, we provided 146 rides for our families, the most we have done so far in 2026! Each ride completed is a lifesaving appointment that was not missed. From Southern Monterey County up to Santa Clara County and everywhere in between, our drivers have been busy making sure each family makes it to their appointments safely.❤️

We want to congratulate some of our amazing volunteers for their recent recognitions! 🎉

Two weeks ago, the Be The Difference Awards by The Santa Cruz Volunteer Center took place and we had a few of our longtime volunteers recognized for the work they do at Jacob’s Heart. Congratulations to Crystal, Karina, and Jocelyn for their recognition of the over 3,000 volunteer hours they have put in at Jacob’s Heart! Congratulations to Shirley and Dan Myers, who were recognized for their dedication to Jacob’s Heart, they have been volunteering with us for over a decade! And lastly, a big congratulations to our Full Hearts program and all our volunteers who make the program so amazing. Full Hearts was recognized for the support provided for our families each week and our volunteers are a huge piece of the work we do.❤️🌟

Summer is coming up which means our Camp Heart + Hands is around the corner! ☀️🍓

This 3-day summer-camp-style weekend at the end of July is full of fun and joy for kids diagnosed with cancer and their families. In order to make this weekend unforgettable, we need all the help we can get from our amazing volunteers! ✨ There will be many different opportunities and activities to help out with during the entire weekend. Helping our staff take some time to slow down and do some self care! 💗

Last Thursday was Mental Health Action Day and our staff spent the morning doing fun activities and enjoying some yummy treats! It was a great opportunity to spend time with each other and step away from work for a moment. We all enjoyed some amazing coffee from Kafe Kultura which was such a highlight! ☕✨

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and at Jacob’s Heart, we know how important it is to support our staff as they navigate the emotional weight of this work. We are grateful for the opportunity to encourage our team to prioritize their mental health and take time to care for themselves! 💖

In May we go Gray for all of our kiddos who are impacted by brain tumors.🩶

This month is a chance to bring awareness to the most common solid tumor in children under 19 years old and uplift the voices of ones who have been affected by them. Kiddos that are diagnosed with brain tumors not only deal with the immediate challenges, but may also face long-term effects that can stay with them their whole lives.🎗️

This May, we invite you to wear gray in honor of the families bravely facing brain tumors whether they are in the midst of the fight, in remission, or remembering a loved one lost. 🤍✨

Bells are ringing and it is the sweetest sound to hear! 🔔💗

We want to say a huge congratulations to our Jacob’s Heart kiddo, Alysha, for celebrating her end of treatment last week. Alysha was diagnosed with a Glioneuronal tumor at the beginning of 2025. Her family joined Jacob’s Heart in March 2025 and we have been grateful to walk alongside them since then. Alysha celebrated in style, rocking her Disney ears and a one-of-a-kind cape made just for her by the nurses at Lucile Packard, the perfect match for her fearless spirit and superhero-level bravery! 💖

Please give a huge round of applause for Alysha! 👏 Your Jacob’s Heart family is so proud of you! 💗 🌟
