THE KIDS ARE GOING BACK TO SCHOOL… NOW IT’S MOM’S TURN.

The backpacks are packed.
The school supplies are labeled.
The schedules are getting organized.
The kids are getting back into their routines.

But what about yours?

Maybe summer was about keeping everyone else entertained, fed, driven around, and on schedule.

Now, it’s time to put YOU back on the schedule.

Not because you need to “get your body back.”
Not because you need another thing on your to-do list.

Because you deserve to feel strong, energized, confident, and connected to yourself again.

This fall, while they’re heading back to the classroom, maybe you’re heading back to the Reformer. 😉

An hour that belongs to you.
A community of women cheering you on.
Movement that challenges you without beating you up.
And a reminder that taking care of yourself isn’t something you have to earn.

School is back in session. Mom, consider this your permission slip to refocus on YOU. 🤍

See you at the studio.

NEW MONTH. NEW GOALS. LET’S MAKE THEM SMART.

A new month feels like a fresh start, but instead of saying:

❌ “I want to work out more.”
❌ “I’m going to eat healthier.”
❌ “I need to take better care of myself.”

Let’s turn those good intentions into SMART goals.

What is a SMART goal?

SMART stands for:

S: Specific
What EXACTLY are you going to do?

M: Measurable
How will you know you did it?

A: Achievable
Is this realistic for your actual life right now?

R: Relevant
Does this goal support something that genuinely matters to you?

T: Time-Bound
When will you accomplish it?

Why does this work?

Because “I want to exercise more” is an intention.

“I will take three Pilates classes each week for the month of September” is a plan.
And plans give us something we can actually follow.

YOUR TURN.

Start with something you want to improve this month and make it SMART.

Instead of:

“I want to walk more.”

Try: “I will walk for 20 minutes after dinner Monday–Friday for the next four weeks.”

Instead of:

“I want to eat healthier.”

Try: “I will include a vegetable with lunch and dinner at least 5 days each week this month.”

Instead of:

“I need to prioritize myself.”

Try: “I will schedule two hours every Sunday this month that are completely protected for something that helps me recharge.”

Your goal doesn't need to be HUGE.
In fact, small/specific/consistent beats an enormous goal you abandon by week two.

NOW LET’S ADD ACCOUNTABILITY.

Leave your SMART goal for September in the comments.

And here's a little extra motivation…

If you comment your goal, I’ll throw your name into a hat for a surprise gift!

It takes accountability AND community to support meaningful change.

So take the leap. Put your goal out there.

What are YOU committing to this month?

P.S. Once you post it, we're officially holding you to it. 😉

Meet Kaitlyn & Lauryn 🤍

We’re so excited to introduce our two newest Clinical Pilates Apprentices at Kee Health!

You’ll start seeing Kaitlyn and Lauryn in-house as they work through their certifications, learn our Clinical Pilates approach, and become an even bigger part of the Kee Health community.

Meet Kaitlyn
Hi! My name is Kaitlyn Hanson. I’m a UW–Madison graduate and have always had a love for fitness, wellness, and helping others. In my free time, I enjoy reading all kinds of fiction, seeing live music, and spending time with family and friends. I’m so excited to join Kee Health and continue learning and growing in Pilates alongside such a welcoming team!

Meet Lauryn
Hi! I’m Lauryn — also known as Brynley’s oldest sister! I’m 23, graduated from Edgewood College, and am a nurse currently working in trauma at UW downtown. I love going to Pilates and taking my dog on walks. I’m so excited to get started and be part of this amazing team!

Over the coming months, these two will be learning, practicing, observing, and growing into their roles as Clinical Pilates Instructors.

We’re excited for you to get to know them — and even more excited to watch them grow. 🤍

Welcome to Kee Health, Kaitlyn & Lauryn!

Earlier this afternoon one of our beloved staff members experienced a medical emergency while in the clinic.

Everyone is okay. ❤️ But if there was ever a reminder of what actually matters, this was it.

We ask for a little extra grace this hump day and through the rest of the week, as we may be a bit short staffed while we take care of our people.

To everyone who was in the clinic while this was happening, thank you for your patience and understanding. And to my entire team-I am beyond impressed. Everyone immediately sprang into action, stepped up for their team member, and did exactly what needed to be done.

I, on the other hand, may or may not have been screaming at the top of my lungs, demanding doors be broken down and yelling people's names.

My Pilates girls already know that what I lack in hearing, I make up for in sheer voice volume.

Today we're just very grateful everyone is okay. ❤️

Thank you for giving our team a little extra patience and grace this week while we take care of each other.

We are NOT doing Pilates at 3am...

Sigh.

We woke up this morning to discover that **every class time in our booking system had been changed to completely outrageous hours.**

For example, we DO NOT have classes starting at 12:30 AM, 2:00 AM, or 3:00 AM. We love Pilates. We do not love it *that* much.

In true fashion of our current (and very soon-to-be-former 👋) software, we have absolutely no earthly idea how StudioBookings managed to make this happen.

Our staff is now painstakingly going through and manually correcting every class and private session for the next 45 days. This is going to take us a little bit to complete.

So, if you saw that your Pilates class had suddenly moved to 3 AM and cancelled because you weren't interested in waking up in the middle of the night to do footwork-we get it. We don't want to teach Pilates at 3 AM either.

Those times are NOT accurate.

We are working through the schedule as quickly as possible, and your normal class times will be reflected as we get everything corrected.

If you're unsure about the time of an upcoming class or private session, please text us at **608.207.8212** and we'll confirm it for you.

The good news: our new booking software has officially classified our situation as "urgent" and their management team is personally onboarding our studio rather than having us wait through the typical 30-day onboarding period.

We are SO grateful-and very, very ready. 😂

Thank you for continuing to roll with this absolute circus alongside us. We promise we're working hard behind the scenes to make your booking experience dramatically easier.

Until then...

Any guesses on what the next issue will be?

At this point, we're taking bets.

VITAMIN D & BONE DENSITY: WHAT WOMEN SHOULD KNOW

You can consume plenty of calcium, but without adequate vitamin D, your body has a harder time absorbing and utilizing it for healthy bone mineralization.

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that also functions like a hormone. Your body can make it:

SUNLIGHT → SKIN → LIVER → KIDNEYS → ACTIVE VITAMIN D

The liver converts vitamin D to 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D], the form typically measured on bloodwork. The kidneys then help convert it to its active form, calcitriol.

WHAT LEVEL SHOULD WE LOOK FOR?

The NIH considers 20 ng/mL or greater adequate for most healthy individuals. When focusing on bone density optimization, we often prefer levels comfortably above the minimum.

For patients with osteoporosis, AACE recommends at least 30 ng/mL, with 30–50 ng/mL preferred. [1]

WHY DOES IT MATTER?

Vitamin D helps support:

Calcium and phosphorus absorption
Normal bone mineralization
Calcium and PTH regulation
Muscle function and fall prevention

WHERE DO WE GET IT?

Sun exposure, fatty fish, egg yolks, UV-exposed mushrooms and fortified foods.

Sun production varies based on season, latitude, skin pigmentation, age and time outdoors. For those of us living through northern winters, sunshine alone may not always be enough.

THE BIG PICTURE

Vitamin D is only one piece of bone density optimization. Protein, calcium, magnesium, resistance training, weight-bearing exercise, hormonal health and overall nutrition matter too.

In functional and lifestyle medicine, we're not only asking, "Are you deficient?"

We're asking, "Are we creating the environment needed to build and preserve strong bone?"
