On September 11, 2026, BRAVE will host our Inaugural Gala as we honor and remember the 25th Anniversary of 9/11. A day that forever changed our nation, our first responders, our military, and countless families.

This evening will serve as both a tribute and a mission.

Together, we will honor the courage, sacrifice, and legacy of those we lost… while continuing to support the Veterans and First Responders who still carry the weight of service every day.

✨ An evening of remembrance, connection, storytelling, and purpose
✨ Supporting brain health, resilience, and recovery for those who serve
✨ More details, sponsorship opportunities, and special announcements to come

25 years later -we still remember.
And we still show up for those who serve.

June is National PTSD Awareness Month.

But this June, we’re not interested in empty awareness slogans or performative posts.

We’re interested in real conversations. As, PTSD doesn’t always look like what people think it does.

Sometimes it looks like:
➡️Irritability
➡️Isolation
➡️Hypervigilance
➡️Emotional numbness
➡️Overworking
➡️Sleep disruption
➡️Chronic pain
➡️Alcohol use
➡️Relationship strain
➡️Feeling “off” for years

For Veterans and First Responders, those symptoms are often normalized. Minimized. Buried under dark humor, overtime, adrenaline, and the tall tail of “I’m fine.”

Surviving is not the same thing as healing.

This month, BRAVE is going to talk honestly about PTSD:
🧠 The science
📊 The statistics
🚑 The impact on Veterans & First Responders
⚠️ The overlap with mTBI (“getting your bell rung”)
💬 The stigma
🛠️ The treatments
🤝 The hope

Because PTSD is not a weakness. It is not failure.
And it is not something people should have to carry alone.

According to the National Center for PTSD, about 11–20% of Veterans who served in Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom experience PTSD in a given year, while rates among Vietnam Veterans remain significantly high decades later.

Research also continues to show elevated PTSD prevalence among active First Responders exposed to cumulative trauma and repeated critical incident stress.

The reality is this:
Many people are still suffering silently because they don’t recognize the symptoms, don’t think treatment will help, or fear being judged for asking.

So for this month, we are to go deeper.

Less lip service. More truth. More education. More conversations.

✨ Thank You, Milwaukee. ✨

On Tuesday night, so many of you came together at Blu Lounge at the Pfister to support the BRAVE Program during our “Sip With Purpose. Support Those Who Serve.” fundraiser.

Because of your generosity, connection, and support:
🍸 10% of drink sales
💙 100% of tips
went directly toward supporting Veterans and First Responders served through BRAVE.

More than anything, the night reminded us how powerful community can be. We had meaningful conversations, shared stories, laughed together, and spent time with people who genuinely care about those who serve others.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, donated, shared the event, and supported our mission. And a special thank you to Blu Lounge and the Pfister Hotel team for hosting such an incredible evening.

This is only the beginning…

We already have more fun, meaningful community events in the planning stages, with more opportunities to connect, support BRAVE, and continue building something special together.

Stay tuned. 💙

🚨 Where is BRAVE going next? 🚨

Next week, BRAVE will be attending the 2026 CIT Symposium hosted by NAMI Wisconsin.

The Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) model continues to play a critical role in helping law enforcement, first responders, clinicians, dispatchers, and community partners better respond to individuals experiencing mental health crises.

At BRAVE, these conversations matter deeply to us.

Because behind every call, every crisis, and every uniform… there are human beings carrying stress, trauma, grief, and cumulative exposure that often goes unseen.

We’re looking forward to connecting with agencies, providers, peer support teams, and community leaders from across Wisconsin to continue conversations around:
🧠 PTSD & mTBI
🚓 First responder wellness
🤝 Peer support & resilience
💬 Mental health stigma
🛠️ Resources & treatment pathways

If you’re attending the symposium, stop by and say hello to Amanda! We’d love to connect.

Last Friday, BRAVE Outreach Team member Will Beiersdorf, attended the Field of Flags event at the Milwaukee War Memorial, a powerful tribute honoring Wisconsin’s fallen service members.

This year, 27,316 flags were placed across the grounds. One for every Wisconsin hero killed in action from the Civil War to today.

The event served as both a remembrance and a gathering place for the community, featuring a memorial ceremony, volunteers, live music, and opportunities for connection and reflection.

Will was honored to represent BRAVE at a resource table during the event, connecting with Veterans, families, and community members throughout the day.

We are grateful to the Milwaukee War Memorial, the volunteers, and everyone involved in creating such a meaningful tribute to Wisconsin’s fallen heroes.

Grateful to recognize two local veteran organizations for their recent support of the BRAVE Program:

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 311 - $500
Arlington Heights American Legion Post 208 -$4,000

These contributions directly support our work with Veterans and First Responders navigating the effects of PTSD and mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI).

Ron White (Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 311) presenting a $500 check

Partnerships like these reflect a shared commitment to ensuring those who have served have access to care, connection, and a path forward.

We’re grateful for your trust in the BRAVE mission and proud to stand alongside organizations that continue to show up for their communities.

Memorial Day is not about the long weekend.

It is a day to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation.

We remember those who never made it home.
Those who stood the line.
Those whose absence is still felt at dinner tables, in communities, and within the ranks.

At BRAVE, we work with Veterans and First Responders every day. We understand that service carries weight and that loss echoes far beyond the battlefield.

Today we pause.
We remember.
We honor.

🕶 Hi Folks! Its FRI-YAY, you know what that means... it's time for.... FAST FACT FRIDAY! And today we are talking Adrenaline.

Adrenaline is an incredible survival tool.💪
It sharpens focus. Increases reaction time. Helps the body respond to danger.

For Veterans, First Responders, and Dispatchers that system can become overused.

The challenge is not the adrenaline itself.
The challenge is when the body never fully switches back off.

Over time, chronic stress and adrenaline exposure can contribute to:

➡Poor sleep
➡Irritability
➡Hypervigilance
➡Fatigue
➡Brain fog
➡Emotional shutdown

Being “used to stress” does not mean the body is unaffected by it.

Your brain and body were designed to survive stress.
They also need time, support, and recovery to heal from it.
