Most of us grew up thinking germs are the enemy. I hear it all the time. In my book, I explain why that is only part of the story.

We each have a whole community of helpful bacteria in our bodies. It's called the microbiome. The word even breaks down easily: "micro" means small and "biome" means a habitat of living things.
