Perimenopause and endometriosis can exist in the same body at the same time, we’re just not talking about it.

There’s this idea that once you get close to menopause, endo quiets down. And for some people it does. But that perimenopause window, with estrogen swinging high and low, is where I actually see some of my patients feel worse.

If something feels off, it’s not nothing. It’s worth looking into and getting the support you need.

There’s nothing like bonding over ✨feminine rage✨

When my patients come to me with their own personal stories and medical misfortunes, I want you to know that I’ve been there too! Seeking *actually* good care as a woman is both physically and emotionally hard work, so I want to make sure you’re fully heard and understood in my office.

Your story and your needs are personal, your healthcare should be too.

Back once again to tell you to avoid pellets as hormone replacement therapy!

Because I keep seeing patients who got them, felt terrible, and then realized they can’t do anything about it. You can’t adjust the dose. You can’t take them out. You just wait… (sometimes months!!) while your levels are all over the place and you feel awful.

There are better options that can be tailored to your needs and aren’t going to cost you a car payment. Find a provider who knows that.

No judgement here, I promise. Did you ever get pellets before switching to other hormone options? What was your experience?

“But you handled it so well.” Thanks! I actually gave myself an autoimmune disease.

A study of over 106,000 people found that those diagnosed with stress-related disorders had a 36% higher risk of developing an autoimmune disease. And that association held even when comparing people to their own siblings, meaning it wasn’t just genetics. Your body keeps the score whether you acknowledge the stress or not. (JAMA, 2018 PMID: 29922828)

I know you’re already exhausted. But it’s about intention. None of it has to be perfect. A hobby, real rest, sharing the mental load, and supporting your nervous system is actually part of the treatment plan. You deserve to take up space in your own life, and your health depends on it.

So what hobby have you always wanted to start? Now’s the time!

You just watched a provider tell you how to vet providers on the internet, which is either very self-aware or a little confusing. Maybe both.

Here’s what I actually want you to walk away with: the women I see in my office have often spent YEARS consuming health content that felt validating, but didn’t provide a next step. This content is designed to make you feel seen while also making you distrust everyone around you.

I get things wrong. I update my thinking. I collaborate with people who know more than me in certain areas because that’s what being a good provider actually looks like. If the content you’re consuming makes you feel informed AND empowered AND like you have a next step…that’s the green flag.

Be discerning and ask questions, “Who is this person and why are they telling me this?” THAT’S self advocacy.

When endometriosis finally gets a diagnosis, it ends up becoming the 💛only💛 diagnosis.
But let’s not forget that when we blame the endo, we miss the chance to offer the specific support actually needed for all the other conditions, like MCAS, that love to tag along.

Your symptoms matter! Your provider should be able look past the diagnosis and address the whole picture & whole person. If they don’t and you still feel stuck…it may be time to make some calls.

Have you ever had your symptoms brushed off as “just the XYZ”? I’m sure my patient isn’t the only one!
