Rachel O’Brien is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) who earned her Master of Arts degree in human lactation in 2015. Rachel prides herself on providing real-life, guilt-free breastfeeding help and specializes in low milk supply, latch difficulty, bottle refusal, tongue tie and lip tie, and LGBTQIA+ lactation. When she isn’t doing office or virtual visits for breastfeeding help Rachel is often blogging about lactation or mentoring other private practice IBCLCs. Okay, no joke- bottle refusal is solvable, but your life will be much easier if you avoid it in the first place!

Here’s the thing… since bottle refusal in babies under 6 months is an oral function issue, not a behavioral issue, there are many yellow flags that almost all bottle refusing babies have in common (even before the bottle is introduced).

And if you know what yellow flags to look for you can avoid bottle refusal altogether!

No joke - pediatricians need to know SO MUCH about so many different topics. But sometimes that means that the intricate details about baby feeding get only glanced over.

However, there are so many incredible pediatricians out there who are going against this stereotype. We love you!!!

Signs of a tight jaw 👇🏻

→ They clamp their mouth shut when trying to latch

→ They only take the very tip of the ni**le, never a deep latch

→ They clamp or bite down on the ni**le instead of sucking

→ Milk leaks out of the corners of their mouth

→ Feeds take a long time but they don’t get much milk

A tight jaw might be the reason why your baby is having trouble feeding! Save this post and let me know if this helped ☺️

It’s been 23 years since Starbucks introduced the pumpkin spice latte, and for better or for worse, Americans have been generally obsessed with the flavor.

You either love it or you passionately avoid it.

One thing you can’t avoid, though, is seeing it EVERYWHERE.

We’ve got pumpkin spiced mac & cheese, peanut butter, Oreos, Twinkies, deodorant (yes, you read that right)…

But is anyone thinking about breastfed babies?? We’re fixing this injustice today! ✊
