🖼 Art, coffee, and a room full of good company. We call that a Friday well spent. ☕

Last month, the Michener Art Museum brought its Art for All program to our Connections Memory Café!

We talked about light and color, and what each painting brought to mind.

Mostly, we just enjoyed being in it together. New faces became familiar ones, and quiet moments turned into easy conversation.

That is what these mornings are really about. The art just helped us get there.

Thank you to the Michener Art Museum for bringing something this good right to our door.

Our next Connections Memory Café is Friday, August 14 at 11:00 AM at the William Jeanes Memorial Library in Lafayette Hill.

Anyone living with dementia and their care partner is welcome.

Know a family who could use a warm morning out? Please share this with them!

Our community made a big splash, 💦 one adopted duck at a time! $4,270 raised for local dementia support! 🦆💛

In June, a group of local businesses came to us with an idea: raise money for Dementia Friendly Montgomery County. So they did! 🤗 A creative campaign to “adopt a duck” turned into a wave of support from businesses and neighbors who believe families living with dementia deserve to be seen, supported, and included. 💜

The BIG check was presented to Dementia Friendly Montgomery County Community Leads Lori A Rizzo and Danielle Ramirez!

What does this mean for Montgomery County? More Memory Cafés where families find connection. Free community education that helps neighbors recognize dementia and respond with compassion instead of confusion. More Dementia Friends sessions and a place find local and supportive resources

To every duck 🦆 adopter, every person who showed up: thank you. Your generosity will help make our community more dementia-friendly!

Special thanks to Bratton Estate & Elder Care Attorneys, Artis Senior Living of Huntingdon Valley, PA, Premier Home Care, Fausto Rey Realtor, and Ennoble Care for making this happen. 🙏

What if being a good neighbor only took one hour of your Tuesday night?

Six people found out. 💙

They showed up to learn how to support people living with dementia. That's the whole ask. They showed up anyway.

Say hi to our six newest Dementia Friends!

The session was led by Lori Rizzo, co-community lead of Friendly Montgomery County.

In one hour, they learned:
🧠 The early signs of dementia
💬 How to communicate with dignity
🤝 Small ways to make someone feel truly seen

And here's what surprised us: a few of them already want to go further and become Dementia Champions. The volunteers who go on to lead sessions like this one themselves.

That's the whole point. Neighbors teaching neighbors.

Want to be a Dementia Friend too? It's free, it's an hour, and it's for everyone. Comment below! ⬇️

Tonight! A little last-minute, but please share this with anyone in your circle who is caring for someone with dementia.

Caring for someone with dementia is some of the most loving and most exhausting work there is, and it can get lonely. You are not meant to do it by yourself.

Tonight I am joining the Caregivers Support Group at Huntingdon Valley Library to spend time with care partners and share some insights and resources for dementia support.

Come meet people who understand.

🎨 Next week, our café gets a little more colorful.🎨

This month at Connections Memory Café, we're excited to welcome the Michener Art Museum's 🖼 Art for All program. We'll spend time with some wonderful paintings and share our thoughts. No art background needed! Just good company in a relaxed environment.

It's a casual morning to enjoy art and each other's company. Come for the art, stay for the snacks. Or the other way around, we won't judge. 🍿

Please share! This might be exactly what someone you know needs.

Helpful information!

Are you a student looking for volunteer hours that make a real impact this summer?

Dementia Friendly Montgomery County needs you, and so does our community.

We are an all-volunteer initiative on a mission to educate, raise awareness, and build community support for those living with dementia and their circle of care.

This summer, we're looking for a small handful of volunteers to help us keep the momentum going.

Opportunities to help include social media, administrative support, and more.

For students in nursing, social work, public health, or related fields, there's also the opportunity to be trained and volunteer to present our Dementia Friends Information Session, a one-hour community education program.

We only need 3-4 dedicated people. If you or someone you know is interested, please get in touch with us! [email protected]

Is there someone in your life who has been touched by dementia? A parent. A neighbor. A best friend's mom. Someone you miss every single day. Someone you cared for.

You can honor them in the sweetest way — by adopting a duck! 🦆 Yes, a duck. A real (okay, not real) duck that is about to become very important to you.

Local organizations have come together to raise money for The Longest Day (the Alzheimer's Association's signature summer fundraiser) and have chosen Dementia Friendly Montgomery County as their beneficiary!

Every duck adopted for $100 goes directly toward our work building a more compassionate, connected community for people living with dementia and the families who love them.

You can name your duck after someone special. You can adopt one in memory. You can adopt one in celebration. You can name it Gerald. We don't judge. 🦆

👉 Email us directly at [email protected] to adopt a duck! We'd love to hear who you're honoring. And yes, we definitely want to know your duck's name.

Plus, there's a beach bash on June 18th. Every duck makes a splash!
