Today is the start of the 2 month period of time when you can select any coverage you'd like for 2027 - and it's more important than ever to understand what this looks like in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. There's a lot big changes but here are three big ones:
- New Hampshire lost Aetna and WellSense as Medicare Advantage Carriers, Massachusetts lost Mass Advantage and certain Northern Maine Counties loss some big options as well.
- Martin's Point and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts added enrollment caps to their Medicare Advantage plans, limiting how many people can get these plans for the first time in Medicare's history.
- 10s of Thousands of New Englander's Medicare Advantage plans ended, meaning they have a Guaranteed Issue Right to go back to Original Medicare with a Medigap plan with no medical questions. If you get a letter saying this, please take this opportunity seriously and truly compare all your options. Your carrier may still be around, but if your specific plan ended, you get this opportunity.
