It is our pleasure to officially welcome Emma Kiekintveld LM, CPM to the team here at WMS!

Now seeing patients and attending births, Emma brings with her a deep passion for personalized, compassionate care. With her gentle presence and skilled hands, Emma is dedicated to providing quality care and honoring each unique birthing experience.

From Emma: “It is an absolute pleasure and honor have received such a warm welcome to the Wenatchee Valley. I look forward to serving this community and meeting more of the families that make WMS the wonderful practice that it is. Midwifery to me is about walking alongside families- offering guidance, support and personalized care that meets you exactly where you are.”

We are having so much fun working along side of Emma and she is a wonderful addition to the WMS team.

MEET EMMA! Our new midwife hire will start on boarding with WMS in June as Sonya winds down and will be in clinic fully as of July 1. We look forward to introducing her to clients; please give her a warm welcome!

Emma was born and raised in Alaska but has since resided in South Carolina and Georgia prior to moving to Wenatchee. It became clear that midwifery was the path she desired to walk upon learning about the human placenta in high school. As she went through training and school, she fell even more in love with midwifery through her passion for meeting people where they are and supporting individuals in the tender moments of life. Emma attended the National College of Midwifery and apprenticed in various communities before becoming licensed in South Carolina.
A lover of nature, she enjoys spending her free time with her family outdoors. She also loves to bake and explore new places

A message from our midwife Sonya Chamberlain:

Hello dear WMS families! I hope this spring weekend is treating you well! This message brings with it some excitement and change. After 16 years of life on call and serving families in pregnancy and birth, I am closing the midwife chapter of my life as of June 30th, 2025. I have learned so much from every family I have served, and will treasure all the moments I have had with each of you! Midwifery provides for a very rich life and I feel fortunate to have had so many wonderful years. I move forward into a new phase now that includes more flexibility and time to spend with my spouse, visit my growing/adult children, and focus on new pursuits and coaching work.

Please know that this transition will be handled with care and compassion so you have time to get to know the new midwife brought into the practice. We have had the opportunity to recently interview several candidates and will welcome a midwife to the valley this coming week so she can learn more about the area, sit in on some visits in our clinic (for those who are comfortable) and form a better understanding of our practice. Rest assured that Suzie and I will continue to share call, births and clinic visits as usual into June and that WMS is committed to providing exceptional care to our clients. For those due beyond June 2025, you will get to know your new midwife in clinic visits prior to your birth time so you can feel confident and comfortable with your care team. I am grateful for all the wonderful years with the practice that Laurie Braunstein has lovingly built and am excited that this midwife will get to partner with someone as fabulous as Suzie!

Calendar is filling and lots of fall babies want to be born! If you are pregnant and hoping for care with our practice, CALL EARLY to get onto the due date list! We limit our monthly due dates to protect our midwives and bring you the best possible care, so don't wait!
