I have certifications on ergonomic lifting, online fitness and nutrition, working on my NASM CPT and read anatomy books in my spare time! I have a passion for learning about our bodies and how food affects them. I hope to help as many people as possible find their reason to be great! That starts, in my opinion, with the food we put into our body!

Eating comfort food isn't cheating on your goals!

A hearty chili.
Oatmeal on a cold morning.
Potatoes.
Fresh bread.

You don't have to choose between enjoying food and caring about your health.
You don't have to earn the foods you love or feel guilty for eating them.
You can enjoy your food AND care about your health.
That's not falling off track.

That's learning how to live a life you actually enjoy.
And no matter what marketing tells you, carbs are not the enemy.

Comfort foods are actually really good for building healthy bodies.
The autumn veggies and soups not only give you a warm tummy,
but they also fuel your workouts better!

So eat some fresh bread with breakfast.
Add a bunch of beans to your lunch.
Bone broth is liquid gold in your dinner soups.
Chop all the veggies into your snack boxes...

Then go lift something heavy!

Because specific foods are not bad for you...
But timing might be (a whole pint of Ice cream in bed);
That's another story for another day!😉

💜 Fuel the fun stuff.

My dog thinks I'm cool...

This is just ONE of the
many reasons I lift. 💁🏽‍♀️

Not just to build muscle or
get stronger,
but to keep showing up for
the ones I love,
💃🏽as best I can!

Sometimes that looks like
picking up a 90 lb dog.🐕

Sometimes it's carrying all the groceries in one trip🫏
(you know you do it, too).

Sometimes it's choosing the temporary discomfort of lifting weights 🏋🏽‍♀️or walking🚶🏽‍♀️‍➡️ after dinner.

And sometimes it's choosing to eat veggies 🥦instead of ice cream🍨

I don't want to admit Kilo is
getting older, or less capable,
but being able to lift him
when he needs me?

🌟That's powerful.🌟

And it's one of the CURRENT reasons I keep CHOOSING to strength train.

I'm not training just for today.

I'm building strength for all the life
I still want to live.

Because getting older is inevitable.

But voluntarily giving up on my
POTENTIAL because lifting weights
is uncomfortable?

😑 I don't think so! 😉

Besides, my dog thinks I'm pretty cool🤓 so, I've got a reputation to uphold!

The bikini season is over...🥺😢
But honestly?
Good.

Because maybe the colder months don't need to be the season where we hide under oversized sweatshirts, lose motivation, binge on holiday goodies, and spend the next few months just waiting for spring.

Bodybuilders call this time of year bulking season.
👏How about we borrow the idea,
and make it a whole lot more intentional?

❌Not a “dirty bulk.” IYKYK
❌Not eating everything in sight.
❌Not intentionally putting on as much mass as possible.

I'm talking about building:
🌟Building strength.
🌟Building lean muscle.
🌟Building energy.
🌟Building recovery.
🌟Building meals that actually satisfy you.
And yes…
🌟Building a new recipe bank full of comfort foods. 😋

🍜🍛🍵Because chilis, soups, potatoes, oatmeal, hearty grain bowls, roasted vegetables, warm breakfasts, and all those cozy foods we start craving when the temperature drops don't have to be the enemy of your goals!🙌

They should be part of the plan:

Maybe you use those extra carbs to help you train harder and recover better.
Maybe you build the size of your glutes, that's been on the list for years!😎
Maybe you build your upper body, and tighten up those batwings.🤣
Maybe this is the season you boost your energy
instead of trying to eat as little as possible.🙃
Maybe you build the strength to carry all the groceries, haul the Christmas decorations out of storage, and chase the kids around!😁
Maybe you create enough endurance to survive another season of sporting events and holiday chaos. 🥴

Or maybe you simply build a body that has more capacity to say YES more often, and be the person who loves the life you wish you could live.

So this year, instead of asking:
“How do I avoid gaining weight during the colder months?”

Try asking:
“What can I build this season?”

Because wellness isn't only about weight management. 🙇‍♀️🙅‍♀️
And it definitely isn't time to abandon yourself just because you're wearing more layers...

🎯It's about using every season to become a little more capable.🎯

Maybe closing in on 50 isn't what we thought it was going to be...Or maybe we're not who we thought we'd be at almost 50...

Maybe closing in on 50 isn't what we thought it was going to be...

Or maybe we're not who we thought we'd be at almost 50... 😉

Either way, I'm here for this version of midlife:

Still growing.
Still getting stronger.
Still figuring things out.
Still becoming.
Still got a little time before I'm actually 50!🤭

Who says our best years have to be behind us?

Level 50 will be my best one yet!💃🏽🦄⭐️

Is it because I’m Gen X,
or is it
just that time of year? 🍂

The seasonal shift has officially turned me into Mr. Rogers!🧥

I want the house windows open for that "fresh breeze," but I need a heavy granny sweater (or blankey) to be comfy.

🌞Like it's nice enough to leave the house in a t-shirt, but I must take a light jacket because the second the sun goes down, that 20° drop hits.🌥 (Midwest living, iykyk)

⭐️⭐️Or is it Gen X conditioning⭐️⭐️:
We didn't grow up with Life360 or cell phones, but our moms drilled it into us to always bring a jacket
"just in case" and to be home before the streetlights came on.

That survival instinct is still going strong.
🤓I bring a jacket everywhere!

So what do we think...
🦄 🎭is it Gen X,
or
🍂🍁is it just Midwest Fall?

Fall has officially entered the chat. 🍂

And you know what I love about a new season?
😁New food inspiration!

Summer gave us berries, watermelon, tomatoes, cucumbers, fresh salads...
But now we're getting a whole new selection!
🍎 Apples
🎃 Pumpkin
🍠 Sweet potatoes
🥕 Carrots
🥦 Brussels sprouts
🍐 Pears
🌱 Squash
And let's not forget...
🍲SOUP.
Who doesn't love a good soup?!🙃

One of my favorite things about seasonal eating is that it makes healthy eating feel exciting again.
Sometimes we think we're lacking motivation when we're really just bored.
🫤Same breakfast.
🫤Same chicken.
🫤Same vegetables.
🫤Same meal prep.
🫤🫤🫤Same, same, same...ugh!

So instead of asking yourself,
“How do I make myself eat healthier when it's cold out?”

Try asking:
“What seasonal flavors sound really good right now?”

💫Go find a new recipe.
💫Try a seasonal fruit or vegetable.
💫Change up your spices.
💫Make a big pot of soup.
💫Roast something you've never tried before.

You don't always need more discipline.
Sometimes you just need a little inspiration.

And seasonal eating gives us plenty of it.
So embrace the colors.
Try something new.
Get creative.
Get excited about your comfort foods again.
👀🤩Start a healthy recipe swap chat!

Because healthy eating doesn't have to be boring!!!!
It should give you something to look forward to.🥰
And if that something happens to be a giant bowl of homemade soup...
Well, I'm not going to argue. 😂

The BERRRR months are here. 🥶

October is here,
which means the days are getting shorter,
the skies are getting darker,
and the couch suddenly looks a whole lot more inviting. 😑

But here's your Monday reminder:
🌟You don't have to feel motivated to take care of yourself🎁

Movement is one of the most powerful tools we have for supporting our
mental and emotional well-being.

And I'm not talking about punishing yourself with a workout.

The goal isn't punishment.
The goal isn't burning calories.
The goal is NEVER to earn your food.

🎁Movement is a gift you give your body.💝

It's a way to change your energy,
clear your head,
shake off some stress,
and remind your body that it was made to MOVE💃

🏋️‍♀️Sometimes that's a full workout.
🚶‍♀️‍➡️Sometimes it's a walk.
🤸‍♀️Sometimes it's an exercise snack.
🧎‍♀️Sometimes it's 10 minutes of stretching because you've been sitting all day.

The goal isn't to crush yourself.
It's to keep yourself from getting cold and creaky. 😂

Because when the weather gets colder and the days get darker,
it's even more important to keep finding ways to move.

You don't need motivation to take care of yourself.
You need a reason.
For me, feeling better, moving better,
and staying connected to my body for the long haul,
are pretty good reasons.🫶

So get up.
Move something.
Take the walk.
Do the workout.
Stretch it out.
And, go touch some grass before the grass disappears under a blanket of snow. 😢
Your future self will thank you.
