Fun times over here! Saltines and apple sauce are the name of the game for now. Any advice on gallbladder surgery recovery would be much appreciated. I know I’m a doctor so I know the things, but when I’m the patient, all my educated advice goes out the window. And I’m not even nervous about the surgery, it’s more that I’m a talker under anesthesia that stresses me out. The couple times I’ve had anesthesia, I’ve gone to sleep talking and woken up in mid-rant about the most random things. That gives me more anxiety than anything. 🤪

3000 patients?!?!??

Yep, I carried about 3000 patients, that were attributed to me alone, in each of my last 2 hospital-owned primary care practices. This is the norm. And it explains why it’s so hard to get an appointment when you’re sick, why it takes so long to get your results, why it seems like there’s no way to get all your questions answered. It’s a big part of why so many Primary Care Physicians are switching to the Direct Primary Care model.

I trained for years to be able to help people. It was not a good feeling to know that when my patients were having a problem and needed me, they were being told to go to an Urgent Care. And Urgent Cares these days are often not even staffed by actual physicians! I’m way too protective of my patients to feel ok about this.

Now when my patients have an issue, they just shoot me a text and we either discuss it over the phone or I get them on that day or the next to address whatever is happening. Saving them money and time, and giving me peace of mind that my patients are receiving appropriate care.

GLP-1’s are not all fun and games! These are some of the more common side effects I see. Keep in mind, these meds are not for everyone and are best prescribed and managed by physicians who have the time to monitor and discuss side effects with patients. Any intervention has the possibility of side effects, some minor and sometimes major.
