🌱 Did You Know?

Chamomile flowers contain naturally occurring plant compounds that have been studied for their calming and soothing properties.

Traditionally, chamomile tea has been enjoyed before bed, after meals, and during times of stress.

It’s one of the gentlest herbs in the garden and one I never want to be without.

What is your favorite way to use chamomile?

Good morning

🌿 God’s Pharmacy in the Garden:
Lavender

Many people know lavender for its beautiful fragrance, but traditionally it has been valued for much more.

Lavender has long been used to support relaxation, ease occasional nervous tension, and create a sense of calm at the end of a busy day.

I often add a little lavender to evening tea blends alongside chamomile or lemon balm. A small amount goes a long way.

Why do I grow it? Because sometimes the garden reminds us that slowing down is productive too.

Just as lavender releases its fragrance when touched, our faith often grows strongest when life presses in.

“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10

🌿 DID YOU KNOW? 🌿

These are both borage.

The blue star-shaped flowers are edible and often described as having a mild cucumber-like flavor.

The fuzzy buds eventually open into one of the most beautiful flowers in the herb garden.

Borage is also a favorite of pollinators, making it a wonderful addition to any garden.

God packed a lot of beauty into one little plant. đź’™

One of my favorite little flowers is moss rose.

Most people walk right past it because the blooms are small, but I’ve always loved how much beauty is packed into such a tiny flower.

Its blooms may be small, but they bring so much color and joy to the garden.

Tucked among the larger plants, they remind me that some of life’s sweetest blessings come in small packages—a quiet morning, a kind word, a bloom opening in the sunshine, or a moment of peace after a busy day.

Through the heat, dry soil, and blazing summer sun, moss rose just keeps blooming.
It doesn’t ask for perfect conditions—it simply does what it was created to do.

Sometimes I think there’s a lesson in that. We spend so much time waiting for everything to be just right before we grow, serve, or bloom.

God often fills our lives with little gifts that are easy to overlook if we’re rushing past them.

“Better is a little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure and trouble therewith.” — Proverbs 15:16

Today I’m thankful for one of God’s little blessings growing right outside my door. 🌸

Lavender: More Than Just a Pretty Flower đź’ś

Most people know lavender for its beautiful fragrance, but this herb has been treasured for centuries as a calming and restorative plant.

Traditionally, lavender has been used to support relaxation, encourage restful sleep, ease occasional nervous tension, and bring comfort after a long day. The flowers are often added to teas, bath blends, sachets, and herbal pillows.

I grow lavender because it’s one of those herbs that serves both the garden and the home. The bees love it, the scent is wonderful, and a handful of dried blossoms can be used in so many ways throughout the year.

One thing I love about lavender is that not every plant blooms at the same time. Some are covered in flowers while others are still preparing. It reminds me that growth doesn’t happen on our timetable. God created every plant with its own season, and sometimes we’re the same way.

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” — Ecclesiastes 3:1
