Patrick was right! 🎉 Our 30 for 30 Summer Challenge needed one more day.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our PCLA community, we’re extending the challenge through midnight tonight, August 31. If you’ve been meaning to give, this is your final chance to help us move closer to our $30,000 goal and strengthen the programs, support, education, resources, and advocacy available to people impacted by Parkinson’s.

One more day. One final push. Let’s finish strong—together. 💗

Functional exercise involves multi-joint body movements that replicate the demands of ADLs rather than training muscle groups in a more isolated manner. In other words, functional fitness involves the incorporation of exercises that help you improve movements that you use throughout the day for ADLs.

Here are some scenarios you might have encountered where incorporating functional fitness could be helpful:

- Needing to retrieve your keys from the floor after dropping them.
- Carrying the laundry basket from the laundry room to the folding table
- Pushing through a revolving door to enter the shopping mall
- Placing cans of soup and other items on an upper shelf in your pantry
- Rising to a standing position from a variety of chairs and couches
- Playing a game with your children or grandchildren that requires you to get down to the floor and back up again

What do all these daily movements have in common? It’s often referred to as “functional independence.” By practicing these types of movements on a regular basis, you maintain the ability to stay independent in your activities of daily living and improve your quality of life.

Join the 30 for 30 Summer Challenge

This August, take the 30 for 30 Challenge and help PCLA raise $30,000 in 30 days to empower people impacted by Parkinson’s.

Donate here: https://www.pcla.org/give

Funds from this challenge will also be used directly to bring a new PD advocate who can answer your phone calls and connect you with vital information and resources to help you live your absolute best life.

Every gift helps PCLA provide programs, support groups, educational resources, events, advocacy, and opportunities for the Parkinson’s community.

You can take the challenge in three ways:
- Give $30, $300, $3000, or any amount that is meaningful to you
- Share the campaign with your community
- Challenge three friends to join you

And now there are more tax-deductible ways to give than ever:
- Cash using Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Venmo
- Using a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)
- Stocks
- Donate your car

For about the cost of a cup of coffee a day, you can create lasting connection, confidence, and hope for people and families impacted by Parkinson’s.
Give today. Change lives forever.

**About PCLA**
PCLA became an official 501(c)(3) in 2016. Our volunteer board began with people living with Parkinson’s and PD advocates who believed in the possibility of a life filled with joy, even in the face of a non-curable diagnosis.

We recognize that maintaining the hope and positivity needed to move forward and live a balanced life can be a constant challenge, which is why we focus on maximizing the quality of life for people with Parkinson’s today.
