I’ve added a two-hour craniosacral biodynamics session to my services, and a couple of people have already taken me up on it!

I’m calling it an intensive, because it is intended for those who have been under a lot of stress and really need a nervous system reset, as well as addressing specific issues like pain, grief, headaches, brain fog, organ issues, etc.

I would also recommend it for when an auto-immune issue is flaring.

The body-mind-energy system has a lot more resources for repair, maintenance, and reorganizing into greater health when in the parasympathetic “rest-and-digest” state.

And that is something that craniosacral biodynamics is really good at — it’s like a reset button for the whole nervous system, as well as for ailing parts, a vacation from stress.

COMING UP NEXT WEEK! After 13 years of working with individual clients with jaw issues, I am now offering a 5-session Zoom series on how to stop clenching your teeth.

If you find yourself clenching your teeth and feeling tension in your jaw, neck, and shoulders, please know that this is a habit that starts unconsciously because of stress. It often starts in the teen and young adult years, and it’s far more common with women, like 9 times more women than men clench. Hmmm….

Unconscious clenching can damage your teeth. It can change the shape of your face. It can convey your tension to others.

This habit ends with your motivation to change, modules structured to get results, a habit change method and tracker, new awareness and insight, a guest speaker (Dr. Alli Moore, DPT, orofacial myofunctional therapist), and group support.

As far as I know, this has never been done before. We will all be learning more.

The class starts TUESDAY, JUNE 2. We’ll meet every Tuesday evening in June, 7:30-8:30 pm, on Zoom. The cost is $79.

There are just a few spots left. To sign up, click this link:

After seeing Dr. Richie Davidson on the Huberman Lab Podcast, discussing his and Cortland Dahl’s new book, Born to Flourish, which I recommend.

I’ve listened to it twice on Audible while driving, and use the related free app Humin, which teaches the skills of flourishing (awareness, connection, insight, and purpose) in small chunks.

A purposeful, aware life, connecting with others and gaining insight into your own being, might take 5-15 minutes a day, which over time adds up.

This article sums it up well.

With very simple exercises, our minds can actually be nourished and changed.

TACTILE PERECEPTION

We use all our senses, our entire sensorium to navigate the outside world. But in our practice, we privilege the sense of touch. Our hands can discern the subtle motion of primary respiration, the overall state of health, the patterns of adverse experiences held in the body and how they compromise tidal motion. Those tactile images revealed to our hands are diagnostic and guide session work. Our hands can also feel how the organism responds to our touch. For instance, a shift in the autonomic tone to a parasympathetic state of calm or the letting go of a tissue memory and realignment of the tensegrity network of connective tissues or shift out of fluid stasis.

All of this if perception, which relies on the brain’s ability to interpret sensory information. Through persistent practice, we can expand our compendium of tactile images and grow our palpatory literacy, our ability to accurately interpret the messages that our clients’ bodies deliver to touch receptors in our hands. This is not guesswork, it’s not intuition, not the channelling of mysterious forces, it is simple the art of touch.
