Back to school means new routines, new classrooms, and for a lot of kids, a whole lot of big feelings. 🙂

Whether your child jumps out of the car ready to go or needs a little extra support to get there, having the right coping skills in their toolkit can make all the difference.

We put together a guide on practical coping strategies you can start using at home right now to help your child feel calm, confident, and ready for the day ahead.

Every word on these plates was written by a teammate, for a teammate.

Last Friday, our West Long Branch staff gathered for a little Staff Craft, writing kind words and messages on plates for every single one of their coworkers. "Hype man." "Great addition to the team." "Adds humor everywhere he goes."

The GBS team shows up for the families and individuals we serve every day, and moments like this remind us why it matters so much to show up for each other too. 🎉

We love this team! 🩵

Grand Slam Family Day was a home run! ⚾️

Sunday was all about family, fun, and cheering each other on, from the stands at BlueClaws Stadium to every smile caught on camera. We were having too much fun to make many pictures, but moments like these are what our GBS community is all about.

Swipe through to relive the highlights, and thank you to every family who came out and made the day so special! 🩵

Daily communication, covering for each other so their client's schedule stays consistent, and always bringing fresh ideas and perspectives to their BCBA.

The impact speaks for itself. Their client has grown so much this past year, and it shows just how much a strong, supportive team can accomplish.

Almost 9 years and still going strong! 🙂

Meet Sarah, one of our incredible BCBAs and a true cornerstone of the GBS team.

Sarah brings 18 years of experience in the field to every family she works with. She was drawn to this work in a deeply personal way, having grown up with a sibling who lacked access to therapy, and that passion is evident in everything she does.

Her favorite moments? Hearing a learner communicate in full sentences for the very first time. After nearly two decades in the field, that never gets old.

We are so grateful to have you, Sarah. Here is to many more years! 🎉

Big emotions are part of childhood, and every kid deserves a few go-to tools to help them through the hard moments. 💙

A coping skills toolkit is simply a set of strategies you build with your child, ones that fit their preferences and work in real life, not just on paper. Sensory tools, picture cards, a weighted blanket, calming music... the best toolkit is the one your child will actually reach for.

Swipe through for a few ideas to get started, and check out the full guide below) for tips on how to build one, when to practice, and how to make it part of your everyday routine.

X marks the spot at GBS! 🎉

Yesterday our little learners went on a full-on treasure hunt! One of our amazing staff members organized the whole adventure. The kids made their own pirate hats, followed a hand-drawn map through the clinic and outside, used fruit as trail markers along the way, and finished with a picnic feast when they found the treasure. 🪎

Identifying fruits, following directions, moving through the environment, and celebrating together. That is a whole lot of learning wrapped up in one really fun afternoon. 🙂

This is what ABA looks like at Graham Behavior Services. Play-based, meaningful, and genuinely joyful.
