Meet your Liver Life Champion, Liver Health Hero and sponsors for the Liver Life Walk in Houston!

2026 LIVEr Champion, Greg Ruth, was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma in March 2025 after being hospitalized for pancreatitis. He underwent chemotherapy, a liver transplant, and a Whipple procedure. Throughout his treatment and recovery, Greg and his wife, Courtney, were also preparing to welcome their son. In a moment their family will never forget, Greg had just been transferred out of the ICU in time to witness his son's birth on August 27, 2025. After a challenging recovery, Greg was discharged on September 30, 2025. Today, he remains deeply grateful for the gift of life, family, and every step of the journey.

Meet your Liver Life Champion, Liver Health Hero, and sponsors for Liver Life Walk DC!

2026 LIVEr Champion, Jack Hill, was diagnosed with an autoimmune liver disease in his early 30s. In 1987, he received a life-saving liver transplant at the University of Pittsburgh under the care of pioneering physicians Dr. Hans Popper and Dr. Thomas Starzl. Since then, he has witnessed remarkable advances in liver disease treatment while building a life filled with love, purpose, and family. Today, Jack celebrates more than 50 years of marriage with his wife, a successful career, and the joy of watching his daughters and grandchildren thrive.

Happy Marathon Monday! Today, we're proud to spotlight dedicated Team ALF runner, Megan Hoffman, who will be taking on the 2026 Bank of America Chicago Marathon on October 11.

Megan is running in honor of her patients as a liver transplant social worker at the University of Chicago. Every day, she witnesses the strength it takes to navigate liver disease and support families through the transplant journey.

She often says that transplant recovery is a marathon in itself—and this fall, she’s taking on 26.2 miles to celebrate the determination of her patients and their loved ones.

She shared, “I couldn’t be more excited to take on this challenge for a cause so close to my heart.” 💚
