B.P. Lyles of Pennsylvania’s Human Rights Coalition states, “The lack of identity, the lack of belonging, the lack of knowing that people matter….it damages the psyche. People are forced into silence, and that has to be broken.”

Lyles continues by voicing how BIPOC communities don’t see examples of ourselves in many spaces that are healthy.

For too long, many men (especially men of color) have been taught to carry stress, pain, and pressure in silence. The truth is that everyone can benefit from counseling, and seeking support is a sign of self-awareness, not weakness.

We also need more BIPOC men represented in the mental health profession, helping to create spaces where future generations feel seen, understood, and supported. 🤍
