WHY IS THE SKINCARE INDUSTRY SO BIG—YET SO MANY ARE STILL STRUGGLING?

The skincare industry is a multi-billion-dollar industry… so why do so many people still feel stuck with their skin?

After 39 years as a clinical esthetician, here’s what I see every day:

• We love pampering ourselves—and there’s nothing wrong with that
• We’re always searching for the next best thing, the newest, greatest product for anti-aging
• When the last product doesn’t meet expectations, we move on to the next and next and next..
• We’re searching for help—for acne, rosacea, melasma, sun damage, wrinkles
• The younger generation is trying to prevent early

But here’s what’s missing…

✨ A clear, customized plan.

Most people are not lacking products—they’re lacking guidance.

Skin correction is not about trying more… it’s about using the right protocol for your skin.

So how do you get off that “Ferris wheel” of guessing?

👉 With a proper clinical skin analysis.

I offer a complimentary virtual consultation (no obligation) where I:
• Evaluate your current routine and products
• Identify what your skin actually needs
• Create a step-by-step correction plan for real results

This is for anyone struggling with their skin—or not getting the results they want from what they’re currently using.

✨ For my fellow estheticians:
If you’re looking to achieve better results with your clients, want guidance, or are interested in carrying Daily Skin Solutions in your business—or even advancing your education—feel free to reach out.

You don’t have to guess your way through skin.

✨ DM me to schedule your complimentary consultation and let’s get you on the right path.

June is Acne Awareness Month 🧬

Let’s simplify acne—because not all breakouts are the same—and each type requires a targeted protocol:
Suggested starting protocols from Daily Skin Solutions by JoAnn Francis:

• Comedonal Acne – clogged pores (blackheads & whiteheads) from excess oil + dead skin buildup
Starting Protocol: Salicylic Face Wash, Combination Skin Pads, Oil + Inflammation Control

• Inflammatory Acne – red, irritated pimples and pustules caused by bacteria + inflammation
Starting Protocol: Acne Cleanser + Aloe, Combination Skin Pads, P.I.E. Reducing Serum

• Cystic + Hormonal Acne – deeper, painful lesions under the skin, often along the jawline/chin and influenced by internal factors
Starting Protocol: Foaming Cleanser, Combination Skin Pads, Acne Spot Treatment
(This type of acne may require advanced treatment.)

These suggested starting protocols are designed to begin addressing the root cause of acne. Adjustments can be made through a complimentary follow-up consultations with JoAnn Francis to further customize your results.

These recommended protocols have consistently shown to be effective. It is highly recommended not to combine other products while starting, so the skin can properly adjust and respond.

Not sure what type of acne you have? Drop your questions below or tell me what you’re struggling with—I’ll guide you in the right direction.

🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 5 star review from Pam Oleksiak:

I love this SPF! It is so silky and smooth. It’s tinted and it just gives you nice, light tint to you face. I hated other SPF creams because they were so heavy and I that is why I didn’t use an SPF in my routine. This one is a must have item for me.

Let’s talk about hyperpigmentation—because not all discoloration is the same, and the cause determines the correction.
There are different types of pigmentation we commonly see:
• Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) – after acne or irritation
• Sun-induced pigmentation – from UV exposure over time
• Melasma – hormonally influenced, often deeper and more complex
Each type forms differently in the skin, which is why treatment must always be tailored to both the cause and depth of the pigment, not just the surface appearance.
From a clinical standpoint, we often look at ingredients such as:
• Vitamin C (brightening + antioxidant support)
• Niacinamide (inflammation control + pigment transfer regulation)
• Azelaic acid (calming + pigment modulation)
• Kojic acid and licorice root (melanin regulation)
• Retinoids (cell turnover support, when appropriate)
At the prescription level, options such as hydroquinone and tretinoin may be used in very specific, short-term protocols. These are typically structured as a 3–5 month supervised treatment plan, followed by a mandatory 2–3 month hiatus to allow the skin to reset and reduce the risk of complications such as exogenous ochronosis, a condition characterized by a paradoxical darkening and thickening of the skin with prolonged or inappropriate use.
After prescription protocols, maintenance is essential and should always transition into barrier-supportive and pigment-regulating ingredients to preserve results safely.
For pregnancy and breastfeeding, it is especially important to keep routines conservative and barrier-supportive. Typically, ingredients such as azelaic acid, niacinamide, vitamin C, and gentle botanicals are considered safer options, while stronger actives like retinoids and certain exfoliating acids are generally avoided. It is also advised that all skincare ingredients be cleared with your OB-GYN before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Pigmentation management is not a one-time correction—it is an ongoing process.
In cases such as melasma, pulse therapy may be necessary, as melasma is not considered curable, but rather manageable with long-term maintenance strategies and trigger control.
This is a condition that falls within my clinical expertise, so feel free to reach out if you have questions or need guidance on your specific skin.

Hi everyone, JF here—your Skin Coach and Founder of Daily Skin Solutions.

Today’s topic: PEELS.

Let’s start here… I love peels. When used correctly, they can be one of the most powerful tools in corrective skincare.

But not all peels are the same.

There are different acids, different strengths, and different levels—and each one has a specific purpose.

We have:
• No-downtime peels (like my mandelic back bar peel, which I’ve incorporated into many treatments)
• Light peels
• Medium-depth peels
• Deep peels (which are outside the scope of estheticians)

Each level targets different concerns—from congestion and pigmentation to texture and aging.

But here is the most important part…

A peel should only be performed on a healthy, properly prepared skin barrier.

Why?

Because when the barrier is compromised, the skin cannot respond correctly. Instead of correction, you can trigger:
• Increased sensitivity
• Inflammation
• Post-inflammatory pigmentation
• Barrier damage

One of the most common things I hear is:
“I want a peel.”

And while that may be the goal—the real skill, and responsibility, is knowing when to say…
“Not yet.”

The right way is not always the fast way.

Prepping the skin, strengthening the barrier, and understanding the cause of the concern will always lead to better, safer, and longer-lasting results.

This is exactly the level of clinical thinking I teach inside my Advanced Esthetician Training—because true correction is not about doing more, it’s about doing what’s right for the skin.

And if you’re a client reading this—this is why a proper consultation matters.

Before any peel, I perform a clinical skin analysis to determine:
Is your skin ready?
What type of peel is appropriate?
Or if we need to correct the barrier first.

Because in skincare, smart and safe will always outperform fast and aggressive.

And the truth is—no esthetician ever wants that sick feeling that something they performed made a client’s skin worse… and no client ever wants to experience that outcome. Which is why doing it the right way, the safe way, will always matter most. The goal of both client and esthetician is happy, healthy clear skin.
