The right wheelchair makes independence possibl

Physically trialling a motorised wheelchair is time-consuming and resource intensive, especially in a hospital environment. The UQ RECOVER Injury Research Centre sparked the idea of using VR to trial different types of power wheelchairs before committing to a purchase.

This month marks the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The ADA was groundbreaking. It changed what access looks like in our country and opened doors for people with disabilities in ways that had never existed before.

But the work is not finished.

Access is not only about getting in the door. It is about being able to participate once you are there.

At Ability Found, we see how much the right equipment matters. A simple walker can help a child take steps sooner. A wheelchair can mean joining family and friends instead of watching from the sidelines.

We are grateful for those who pushed for change and moved the needle. Let’s keep that momentum going so more people can fully take part in everyday life.

This is Phoebe in her new little crocodile walker from Ability Found.

In the time it would take to get one through insurance, she might already be walking.

That is why we move fast. Getting the right equipment at the right time matters. It helps kids build strength, confidence, and independence when it counts.

We saw this video from .abby and had to share it.

Her son Wyatt riding a fully accessible ride for the first time. He stays in his wheelchair and gets to experience the ride just like everyone else. Mom is a little nervous. Wyatt is having the time of his life.

Moments like this are exactly why Ability Found exists. When people have the right mobility equipment, doors open. Kids get to be included. Families get to say yes to more experiences.

Last week we stopped by the West Valley City Chartway Credit Union branch to spend some time with the team at the Chartway Promise Foundation.

They presented a $15,000 donation to help provide mobility equipment for people in our community. Gifts like this help someone get the wheelchair, walker, or other equipment that can make everyday life possible again.

We are grateful for partners like Chartway who care about their neighbours and believe everyone deserves the freedom to move.
