Coordinated OrthoWIN Rehabilitation Supports Meaningful Functional Progress
Following hospitalization for an intraspinal abscess and granuloma, a female patient admitted to our center with significant functional limitations affecting mobility, self-care, balance, and daily independence.
Through our OrthoWIN specialty program, the patient received individualized rehabilitation supported by Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and interdisciplinary clinical coordination. Early in her stay, participation was limited by weakness and overall deconditioning, requiring support with lower body dressing, toileting, bathing, ambulation, stair climbing, transfers, and bed mobility.
Over the course of a 21-day rehabilitation stay, the care team focused on strength, mobility restoration, safe functional movement, and improved independence with daily activities. By discharge, the patient had progressed to modified independence with bathing, dressing, toileting, bed mobility, ambulation, and transfers, with supervision for stair climbing.
This outcome reflects the value of coordinated post-acute rehabilitation: clinically informed care planning, interdisciplinary communication, and functional goals that support a safe return home.
