🍑 3 Signs Your Glutes May Not Be Pulling Their Weight
Your glutes play a major role in controlling your pelvis, stabilizing your hip, and producing force when you run, squat, jump, and change direction.
But how do you know if your hips could be contributing more?
👇 Look for these 3 signs:
1️⃣ Poor pelvic control
Excessive anterior pelvic tilt or difficulty controlling your pelvis during single-leg movements may indicate limitations in hip strength or neuromuscular control.
2️⃣ Dynamic knee valgus
If your knee repeatedly collapses inward during a squat, landing, step-down, or run, your hip abductors and external rotators may not be providing enough control.
3️⃣ A highly knee-dominant movement strategy
If your quads consistently take on a large share of the workload during squats, stairs, running, or jumping, you may benefit from improving your hip contribution and overall movement strategy.
💡 This doesn’t automatically mean your glutes are “weak.” Movement is influenced by strength, mobility, coordination, fatigue, and training history.
The goal isn’t to shut off your quads—it’s to build the strength and control to distribute load effectively between your hips and knees.
Stronger hips. Better control. More efficient movement.
