At its 2025 meeting, the APTA House of Delegates adopted a new Code of Ethics for the Physical Therapy Profession that combines the Code of Ethics for the Physical Therapist and the Standards of Ethical Conduct for the Physical Therapist Assistant into one comprehensive document that went into effect January 1, 2026.

As applied to the physical therapy profession, APTA builds on these principles to identify nine Ethical Commitments to which all APTA members should aspire and which serve as a basis for APTA’s enforceable Standards of Conduct. Stay tuned to our socials as we highlight these Commitments!
