About 2 months ago, Dug suddenly stopped putting weight on his front right leg.
Within hours, his elbow and shoulder became swollen, painful, and he developed a fever of 104°.
We immediately went to the vet:
• X-rays of the elbow and chest → clear
• Bloodwork → clear
• No fractures. No obvious infection. No clear answers.
So we shifted our focus toward supporting his body the best way we knew how.
What we started doing daily:
• PEMF therapy
• Gentle movement & massage
• Manual adjustments
• Home-cooked anti-inflammatory meals
• Medication support from our veterinarian
For the first few weeks, we carried him up and down stairs.
He didn’t even place his toe on the ground until week 3.
Little by little, things began changing.
First toe touch.
Then partial weight bearing.
Then short walks.
No miracle overnight recovery.
Just consistency.
Today, Dug:
• Walks fully on the leg
• Has only a slight hitch at times
• Can hop downstairs again
• Walks up to a couple of miles on steady terrain
• Loves to swim and exercise the leg and elbow
And yes…
he’s VERY committed to his real-food diet now. 🍖
This journey reminded us of something we tell patients every day:
Healing takes time.
The body needs support.
Consistency matters.
And progress often comes in small wins first.
We’re just grateful to see our boy moving again. 🐾
