We often hear “that’s just part of getting older.”

But what if some of the changes women notice around menopause are connected to what’s changing inside the body?

Energy, muscle, skin, mood, metabolism, and how you feel day to day are all bigger conversations than just age alone.

Menopause is a normal transition, but understanding what’s happening during that transition matters.

A lot of women are told menopause starts after one full year without a period.

But what about all the changes that can happen before that?

Cycles changing, symptoms appearing, and feeling different in your body can all start during the transition leading up to menopause.

Understanding what’s happening during this stage can make a huge difference instead of waiting and wondering.

Waking up multiple times a night to p*e, constantly looking for the nearest bathroom, or noticing changes in bladder control?

A lot of women experience these changes with age and menopause, but many don’t realize there are conversations and options beyond simply learning to live with it.

I go deeper into what’s happening, what questions to ask, and different options available in my latest Substack article.

If you are leaking, avoiding s*x because it hurts, waking up to p*e, dealing with dryness, burning, irritation, or recurring UTIs, this is not just “part of getting older.”

And it is not something you should have to carry in shame.

These symptoms can affect your confidence, your sleep, your relationship, your intimacy, and the way you feel in your own body.

Your bladder and va**na are not separate islands. They are part of one estrogen-sensitive system.

When estrogen declines, you may feel it as urinary urgency, bladder leaks, va**nal dryness, painful s*x, irritation, infections, or pelvic floor changes.

This is called Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause, or GSM.

Bladder changes after menopause are extremely common, but many women are never told what options are actually available.

In my latest Substack article, I go deeper into pelvic floor strengthening options, what symptoms to bring up with your physician, what questions to ask, and why addressing the health of the bladder and surrounding tissues matters.

I also discuss the role of estrogen, pelvic floor support, and different treatment options available today.

If your bladder is calling emergency meetings at 2:13 a.m., scouting bathrooms before you even sit down, and acting like the CEO of your entire life…

Ma’am, your bladder has gone rogue.

But urinary leakage, urgency, nighttime bathroom trips, and recurrent UTIs after menopause are not just “part of getting older.”

They are signals.

Your bladder, urethra, va**nal tissues, pelvic floor, and estrogen levels are all connected, and women deserve more than pads, panty liners, and bad advice.

No, you do not have to accept “crazy bladder syndrome” as your new personality.

And no, “just live with it” is not a treatment plan.

Read my latest article on Substack to learn why menopause can make your bladder act absolutely unhinged, and what women should start asking about.

When a woman says she feels irritable, flat, moody, or like she goes from zero to sixty, the conversation usually turns into stress management.

Breathe more. Sleep more. Try harder. Be calmer.

Fine.

But can we also talk about the body?

Follow me on Substack as I explore how hormones shape mood, energy, menopause, and the way women feel in their own bodies. https://mirelacernaianu.substack.com/
