With the holidays approaching I encourage you to take some time to think about the photos, tapes, slides, and films that are collecting dust in your basement. 📼 🎞

Preserving these collections can make a great gift not only for you, but for your children and future generations. 🎁 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

What a great gift it could be to share these keepsakes with family members across the globe. By uploading your collection to sites like Google photos or sendings usb drives or DVDs, the entire family can have their own slice of their family history. 🏡 📚

Recently I have started the process of digitizing my own family’s collection. I have started taking films, vhs tapes, and photos and digitizing them and sharing them with family via flash drives and Google photos. 📱 💻

Below are a few stills I was able to pull from some 8mm film that had been accidentally stored in my uncle’s garage and thought to be beyond repair. 🎥

With a little elbow grease and patience not only were we able to preserve the film (42 reels) but, I was also to save photos from the reels of my grandparents who I have not seen in decades. 🕰

My grandma (puppy photo) hated her picture being taken, and I have very few of them. Being able to have these videos and then sneakily saving these screen shots have meant the world to me and my family.

Maybe you don’t need anything right now, maybe you’re waiting for a holiday, maybe you just don’t have it. Supporting your favorite small businesses doesn’t have to cost you.
