πŸ“ž CALL.
πŸ«€ PUSH.
⚑ SHOCK.

Three simple actions can help save a life during sudden cardiac arrest.

As part of our It Starts With You campaign during National CPR & AED Awareness Week, we encourage everyone to visit Call Push Shock, a national collaborative movement with a mission to motivate laypeople CPR/AED action and increase sudden cardiac arrest survival.

The reality is:
πŸ’” Sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone
🏠 7 in 10 happen at home
⏱️ Every minute without CPR and defibrillation decreases chance of survival

But when bystanders take immediate action, survival can double or even triple.

Learn how you can be prepared to respond:

Because when seconds matter…
It starts with you.
It starts with me.
It starts with us.

Call Push Shock is co-sponsored by Parent Heart Watch (PHW) and Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation (SCAF).

Happy Re-Birthday to all of the sudden cardiac arrest survivors in our community celebrating this May. πŸ’™πŸŽ‰

A re-birthday marks the day life was given a second chance, a day made possible by courageous bystanders, CPR, AED access, emergency responders, medical teams, family support, and incredible resilience.

Today, we celebrate every survivor, every rescuer, and every story that reminds us why awareness, preparedness, and action matter so deeply.

Your journeys inspire hope. Your voices strengthen our mission. And your lives are a powerful reminder that survival is possible.

Wishing all of our May re-birthday honorees continued healing, strength, joy, and many more milestones ahead. πŸ’›

Happy ! This week we have been focused on our final preparations for our It Starts With You campaign for National CPR & AED Awareness Week which runs from June 1st - 7th. We will share many resources and ways to get involved, including how to learn CPR, use an AED, spread awareness to your community, and much more. A driving force of our campaign is the It Starts With Me Pledge, which we encourage our followers and communities to take as a commitment to learning CPR and AED awareness and spreading that knowledge to others.

Because when it comes to saving lives...

It starts with me.
It starts with you.
It starts with us.

Follow along next week for more! β™₯️

πŸ’™ 2025 People Saving People Award Nominee Spotlight πŸ’™

On Christmas morning, Edward went downstairs for a quick nap after working an overnight ER shift. Thirty minutes later, his wife heard him gasping for air. He had choked, stopped breathing, and gone into cardiac arrest.

His daughter, Elliott, didn’t hesitate.

After calling 911, Elliott pulled her father to the floor and immediately began CPR. For nearly 10 minutes, she delivered more than 1,000 compressions before first responders arrived, and she never gave up.

Edward endured an extraordinarily long, non-shockable cardiac arrest, multiple rearrests, nearly an hour on a LUCAS device, ECMO support, and 22 days in the cardiothoracic ICU. But through it all, one thing made the difference:

πŸ’₯ Immediate CPR.

Elliott had learned hands-only CPR through a program inspired by NFL player and Pitt alum Damar Hamlin that trained student athletes in lifesaving skills. That training became the reason her father survived.

Today, Edward is neurologically intact and calls his daughter’s actions β€œamazing bravery, mental and physical strength, and determination to not lose.”

πŸ‘ Thank you, Elliott, for reminding us that everyday people truly can save lives.
