If you’ve seen a reproductive immunologist and been told your NK cells are elevated, your cytokines are dysregulated, or your immune markers are “off” and the solution offered was a steroid or immune suppressant, guess what?

That’s treating the smoke, not the fire 🔥

Your immune system isn’t misbehaving for no reason. It’s responding to something and one of the most overlooked drivers of immune dysregulation in the context of recurrent pregnancy loss is chronic infection 👉🏼Lyme, coinfections, viral reactivation, stealth pathogens

We know that early pregnancy requires a very precise immune choreography. NK cells, T-regulatory cells, and cytokines all have to work together in a tightly orchestrated sequence to allow implantation and sustain the pregnancy through the first trimester. Borrelia and its coinfections directly dysregulate those exact pathways

So when someone hands you a prescription to suppress your immune system without asking why it’s activated in the first place that’s a massive gap in care

Real care stop asking “how do we quiet your immune system?”

And starts asking better questions like “what is your immune system fighting?”

If you’ve had recurrent losses and nobody has looked upstream at chronic infection burden, that’s not a dead end, it’s an unanswered question and one you deserve the answer to

Comment READY and I’ll send you more on what a functional approach to recurrent miscarriage actually looks like 👇🏼

Renaming PCOS to “metabolic reproductive syndrome” and then handing out Metformin is still not the answer

Ask why she’s insulin resistant. Ask what’s burdening her liver. Ask what’s driving the hormone dysregulation upstream

The hard conversations (toxins, chronic infections, terrain) are hard because they actually require investigation. And that’s exactly why the system avoids them

Women deserve better than a prettier diagnosis and the same playbook

Glutathione gets recommended in mold recovery for a reason

It’s one of the body’s most important antioxidants and a major player in binding, neutralizing, and moving toxins out through detox pathways. When someone is dealing with oxidative stress, inflammation, and a high toxic burden, glutathione support can be incredibly valuable

But guess what? Glutathione isn’t just something you buy in a bottle. It’s something your body is designed to make and if your internal production is struggling, that matters

Your body builds glutathione from amino acids, especially cysteine, glycine, and glutamate. It also relies on nutrients like selenium, riboflavin, magnesium, B vitamins, and vitamin C to recycle and regenerate it. This process happens inside your cells, closely tied to mitochondrial function and energy production

No energy = less capacity
No raw materials = less capacity
Too much incoming toxic load = demand exceeds supply

This is why “take glutathione for detox” is only one piece of the picture. If someone is under-eating protein, nutrient depleted, inflamed, constipated, blood sugar unstable, sleep deprived, living in ongoing exposure, or dealing with sluggish mitochondria… they may keep needing more support because the foundation was never addressed

Want to support glutathione production naturally?
👉🏼Adequate protein intake for amino acid building blocks
👉🏼Blood sugar stability to reduce oxidative stress
👉🏼Mitochondrial support through minerals, movement, sleep, and nourishment
👉🏼Regular bowel movements so toxins can actually leave
👉🏼Lowering ongoing exposure from mold, chemicals, and inflammatory inputs
👉🏼Nutrient sufficiency, not just random supplements

External glutathione can be helpful. NAC can be helpful. But the long-term goal should always be a body that can regulate, produce, recycle, and detoxify efficiently on its own

Detox isn’t about overriding physiology, it’s about restoring it 🫶🏼

You’ll avoid RO water because someone on the internet called it “dead.” You’ll avoid distilled water because it’s “not structured.” You’ll debate minerals in water for hours 🙄

But you’ll drink tap water loaded with things that were never meant to be part of your daily biology and act like that’s normal

👉🏼Pharmaceutical residues
👉🏼Hormonal compounds
👉🏼Pesticides
👉🏼Herbicides
👉🏼Heavy metals
👉🏼Disinfection byproducts
👉🏼Industrial chemicals
👉🏼Even radioactive substances in some areas

And then wonder why hormones feel off, cycles are irregular, ovulation is weak, inflammation is high, gut issues won’t resolve, or fertility feels harder than it should

I call tap water infertility water for a reason ‼️

No, the answer is not fear. The answer is being honest about what modern exposures look like and reducing the ones you can control every single day. Water is one of the easiest places to start because you consume it constantly 💦

So stop obsessing over whether water is “alive” enough

Get cleaner water, then add minerals back in

That’s it, that’s the strategy

Most people need minerals anyway because modern soil depletion, stress, processed food, and chronic depletion are real. So remineralizing your water is not a downside. It’s a win, hello…

You do not need perfect
You need better inputs
And cleaner water is one of the highest leverage changes you can make

When you’re told s***m count and motility look “great”… but morphology is low, it often gets brushed off like it doesn’t matter

Um hi, it matters

Most people don’t actually understand what morphology means so we have to start there because morphology is the percentage of s***m that are shaped normally

That means the right head shape, midpiece, and tail structure needed to properly reach and fertilize an egg

So when that number is low, it means a higher percentage of s***m are structurally ABNORMAL. And if s***m are literally carrying the genetic blueprint that helps create your future chilD why would we pretend that doesn’t matter?

This is where so many couples get dismissed and just hear👇🏼
“You have good swimmers.”
“We’ll just pick the good ones.”
“Everything else looks fine.”

But why is morphology low in the first place?

From our perspective, low morphology is often a signal, not a random bad number. It can reflect deeper issues like
👉🏼Oxidative stress
👉🏼Environmental toxin burden
👉🏼Heavy metals
👉🏼Mold + mycotoxins
👉🏼Mitochondrial dysfunction
👉🏼Nutrient deficiencies
👉🏼Inflammation
👉🏼Hormone imbalances
👉🏼DNA damage

And what we see in practice is that morphology is sometimes the only abnormal marker on the semen analysis. That doesn’t mean it should be ignored. It means it deserves investigation 🔎

Male fertility is still one of the most overlooked pieces of the fertility conversation and too many couples are paying the price for that

We created a free guide on what you’re not being told about male fertility. Comment OVERLOOKED and we’ll send it to you so you can advocate for your fertility

Water 💦 is one of the most common, and most difficult things we discuss in our practice.

It’s something we all need, and yet very few of us actually have access to CLEAN water. Or many of us have been using a good filter for years, only to find out that it’s not actually filtering what we thought it was (Berkey owners, I’m talking to you 😞)

So here’s why we ALWAYS recommend you ditch tap water, aka “infertility water.”

Tap water has so much garbage in it that you may not realize is creating a toxic burden on your health:

👉🏻Chemicals
👉🏻Neurotoxins
👉🏻Pathogens - bacteria, protozoa and even worm lavae
👉🏻Endocrine disruptors
👉🏻Plastics
👉🏻Pthalates
👉🏻Even pharmaceuticals

A 2008 Associated Press report found everything from antidepressants and anti-anxiety medication to painkillers like Va**um and synthetic estrogen found in oral contraceptives in the water supply—after water treatment 😱

If you’re in a small community, this is even more important for you. Ultimately, tap water is regulated by the EPA who sets limits on 90+ contaminants in our water supply through the federal Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), though the policy only applies to public water systems that serve more than 10,000 people. Communities smaller than 10,000 are not regulated under the SDWA — instead, they are monitored every five years for only 30 contaminants through the UCMR (Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule) by the EPA.

Even your water utility company doesn’t test for all toxic substances nor do they have an obligation to filter them.

So what do we recommend instead?

Reverse osmosis with no added chemicals at a minimum, or the best of the best is distillation especially if you live in a state with high radiation levels in your way (hint: it’s more states than you think). But REMEMBER, you must be adding minerals back to your drinking water at all times to avoid mineral depletions

I love NaPro for what it brought to fertility care
It challenged IVF
It restored cycle tracking
It values excision surgery and structural assessment especially for endometriosis

That matters. But we have to go further.

NaPro tests the immune system. They measure NK cells, antibodies, clotting markers

But here’s the real question 👉🏼Why is the immune system activated in the first place?

Immune dysregulation doesn’t happen randomly

Mycotoxins from mold alter cytokine signaling, increasing IL-6, TNF-α, TGF-β1. They dysregulate natural killer (NK) cell activity. They increase histamine release. They shift Th1/Th2 balance.

You can suppress that response, sure. But if mold exposure is ongoing (in the body or the home)the immune system will continue reacting

Metals matter too

Heavy metals influence things like…
👉🏼Microglial activation in the brain
👉🏼Hypothalamic-pituitary signaling
👉🏼Thyroid conversion
👉🏼Mitochondrial ATP production

And when mitochondria are impaired? Egg quality declines. S***m quality declines. Endometrial receptivity declines.

You cannot hormone your way out of mitochondrial dysfunction

This isn’t anti-NaPro. It’s anti-stopping-too-soon

Fertility care has to ask better questions 👇🏼
Why is immune signaling dysregulated?
Why is endocrine communication impaired?
Why is the body stuck in survival mode?

Because conception actually isn’t the finish line

If the terrain isn’t corrected, the cost shows up later — in pregnancy, infancy, and childhood

Fertility care should protect the next generation. Not just produce a positive test, and since we know that all of these types of toxins can be passed in utero from mother to child, are we simply missing the mark?
