That's about the same weight as a bowling ball sitting on top of your spine.
When your head is balanced over your shoulders, your neck handles that weight just fine. But the second you tilt forward to look at your phone, the pressure multiplies fast.
At a 45-degree angle, your neck is supporting close to 50 pounds of force. Imagine doing that for hours every day.
This is what we call text neck, and we're seeing it more and more in patients of all ages.
The fix is simple. Hold your phone up closer to eye level. Take breaks. Stretch your neck side to side a few times a day.
How often do you catch yourself looking down at your phone? Be honest in the comments.
