🫐 **WHAT IS THE HYPE ABOUT ARONIA?**
You may have heard it called **black chokeberry** - but this little berry is anything but ordinary.
Aronia has become known as a powerful “superfood,” and for good reason. It has **one of the highest antioxidant capacities among commonly studied berries**, with strong free-radical-scavenging activity.
Additionally, it
✨ Supports cleansing & detoxification
✨ Helps tighten & tone tissues
✨ Supports healthy, clear skin
✨ Helps prevent post-meal drowsiness
But here's the fascinating part:
**Its power isn't just in its antioxidants.**
Aronia has an intensely **tart, dry, astringent taste** -- and in Ayurveda, taste matters.
That astringency is traditionally associated with a **clearing, drying, Kapha-reducing effect** and is used to help counter heaviness, excess moisture, and *ama* (traditionally described as accumulated metabolic residue).
🌿 In Ayurvedic terms, its qualities are quite unique: **Earth + Air** elements give it a distinctly grounding yet reducing and “scraping” quality.
And there's another practical bonus:
**It can be remarkably satisfying and may help curb appetite.**
Sadly, it doesn't grow everywhere. This scarcity + marketing hype come at a cost...
2 oz of aronia juice can sell for around $70 in the US.
5 oz of aronia powder can cost $25+.
Right now, we happen to be in a part of Kazakhstan (the world's 9th-largest country by territory, and a place many people still know surprisingly little about), where a friend's family has aronia bushes growing right on their land.
No fancy packaging.
No exotic “superfood” marketing.
No tiny scoop of expensive powder.
Just **fresh berries growing from the earth.** 🌱
And sometimes that's the funny thing about superfoods…
**The more exotic they become in the health-food aisle, the more you realize that somewhere in the world, they're just growing in someone's backyard.** ❤️
Regardless. Even at prices like this, it is worth it.
But... when nature gives you a handful… take the handful.** 🫐😄
Have you ever tried aronia / black chokeberry?
