At White Salmon Integrative Medicine, we have created multiple sacred altar spaces throughout the clinic — each with its own unique aesthetic, energy, and intention. These spaces are not simply decorative; they are part of the healing environment we intentionally cultivate.
In Chinese medicine, our external environment is considered an important influence on our internal state. The flow of Qi (vital energy) is supported not only through acupuncture, herbs, and bodywork, but also through the spaces we inhabit. Beauty, balance, and thoughtful placement help create harmony — reflecting the relationship between the body, mind, and the natural world.
We use aesthetics as a form of healing: clean, clear spaces; natural elements; intentional arrangements; and moments of beauty that allow the nervous system to soften and the mind to settle. Each altar has its own expression, honoring different qualities of nature and the seasons while creating a sense of grounding and presence.
Because in Chinese medicine, harmony is not just something we create within the body — it is something we cultivate in our surroundings, too. Our environment holds us, and when a space feels balanced, it can support us in returning to balance ourselves.
