Down syndrome cost her one law school. She became a lawyer elsewhere.

Ana Victoria says plainly why she moved: she was discriminated against where she lived. She finished high school online for the same reason.

The next university took her. Five years of law school later, she became the world's first lawyer with Down syndrome.

Over the past 250 years, America’s population has grown, as has the population of those requiring services in the human services field. It is estimated that there are between 7.4 to 8.6 million individuals in need of services. Today, as we celebrate with America, we also celebrate with those individuals we get to see thriving through programs and supports offered to this unique population. Whether receiving Housing, Lifesharing, Residential, Supportive Living, Community Participation Supports, Children Services, and/or Behavioral Supports, we continue to advocate for person-centered approaches so that each individual can live the life they choose.

In a time when we are grateful to live in the land of the free, we are also honored to work with all who support the mission, vision, and roles in helping support individuals with unique abilities across the country to live freely as they choose.

America's 250th birthday—known as the semiquincentennial—officially peaks on July 4, 2026, marking exactly 250 years since the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. The premise that "all men are created equal" has served as the foundational argument for inclusion and anti-discrimination in public services. While we celebrate with America, we continue to advocate for the foundation freedom of equality for all.

🖤❤️💚 Juneteenth ❤️🖤💚

Today is a celebration of freedom, the enduring spirit of resilience, reflecting on our nation's history, and recommitting ourselves to equity, inclusion, and justice for all.

Juneteenth commemorates the day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas learned of their freedom more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. May this day inspire reflection, understanding, and progress.

Our offices are closed today, and will reopen for normal business hours on Monday.

Congratulations to our PDSI’s Housing Team that had an invitation to visit the State Capitol today and meet with Senators/Representatives to advocate for, “The Housing Pilot”. This pilot assist individuals with intellectual disabilities to live independently in their own environment 🏡 PDSI continues to play an integral part in developing affordable and safe housing - to date they have helped 138 people find a home to call their own ❤️
