💊 Important Update for Our Levothyroxine Patients 💊

You may have seen news of a nationwide recall of levothyroxine sodium tablets. Here’s what you need to know:

🔎 What happened:

Major Pharmaceuticals has recalled certain lots of levothyroxine sodium tablets after routine testing found some tablets were “subpotent”, meaning they contained less active medication than intended. The FDA classified this as a Class II recall on July 17, 2026.

✅ Good news for our patients:

Whiting Community Pharmacy sources our levothyroxine from Lupin Pharmaceuticals and Lannett Company ; NOT Major Pharmaceuticals. Based on current information, our supply is not part of this recall.

📋 What you should do:

• Continue taking your levothyroxine as prescribed — do not stop or skip doses without talking to your doctor.

• If you have any concerns or questions about your specific prescription, stop by or give us a call — we’re happy to check your medication’s manufacturer and lot number with you.

• If you’ve picked up levothyroxine from another pharmacy recently, check the manufacturer name on your bottle. If it says Major Pharmaceuticals, contact your pharmacist right away.
