Quick check-in.

Back on May 10th, I competed at 195 pounds. Today I’m sitting at 186, and on June 20th I’ll be stepping on the scale again for another tournament where I need to make 181.9.

One thing this process has reminded me of is that results don’t come from motivation. They come from consistency.

Nobody sees the workouts.

Nobody sees the meal prep.

Nobody sees the meals you don’t eat, the workouts you didn’t skip, or the choices you make when nobody is watching.

They just see the result.

Whether your goal is to lose weight, get healthier, compete in a sport, or simply become a better version of yourself, stop waiting for motivation.

Set a goal. Set a deadline. Then get to work.

One workout.
One walk.
One meal.
One decision at a time.

No shortcuts.

What are you working toward right now?

🍽️ Tried the halibut at Harvest Seasonal Grill tonight!

Perfectly cooked halibut served over a flavorful mix of roasted fennel, asparagus, tomatoes, potatoes, and other seasonal vegetables. The fish was flaky and tender, while the vegetables added a fresh balance of flavor and texture.

Light, satisfying, high in protein, and the kind of meal that proves healthy food can still feel like a treat.

Verdict: TASTY TAKEDOWN

Have you tried Harvest Seasonal Grill yet? If not, would you give it a shot?

I’m always looking for convenient high-protein options that actually taste good.

Today we’re putting the Alani Cookies & Cream protein shake to the test.

At 160 calories and 30 grams of protein, the macros are solid. The real question is whether it can compete with my usual go-to, Fairlife.

Would I buy it again? You’ll have to watch and find out.

What’s your favorite ready-to-drink protein shake?

One of the biggest things Brian and I talked about on the podcast was the actual philosophy behind Tasty Takedowns.

People think they need some extreme diet or a complete life overhaul to change.

Most of the time, they don’t.

Real transformation usually comes from simple, realistic changes repeated consistently over time.

One healthier meal.
One better habit.
One extra workout.
One less excuse.

Those small choices compound into big changes over months and years.

That’s what this brand is really about:
Helping people make realistic decisions they can actually sustain in real life.

Because sustainable will always beat extreme.

Looking for a lower calorie, high protein alternative to sushi at home? 🍣🥒

These spicy shrimp cucumber boats seriously hit the spot. Crisp cucumber, sushi-style rice, creamy spicy shrimp, crunchy wasabi nori, sesame seeds, and a drizzle of sriracha to finish it off. You still get those sushi flavors, but with way more volume and way fewer calories.

Perfect for summer, meal prep, or when you want something fresh without feeling weighed down after eating it.

And honestly… these came out way better than I expected. 👊

That’s a Tasty Takedown.

I still remember watching 9/11 happen on a television while I was in military training.

Not long after that, I became a paratrooper with the 1/325th Airborne Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division and deployed to Iraq at 19 years old.

I came home at 20.

Experiences like that change you forever. A lot of the discipline, resilience, and mindset I carry today came from that chapter of my life.

People see the jiu-jitsu, the running, the fitness journey, and the healthier lifestyle now, but so much of that foundation was built years ago.

The military shaped me in many ways, and I’ve spent the years since trying to channel those lessons into becoming a better father, a healthier person, and someone who keeps pushing forward no matter what.

This clip is from my conversation on the Food Fight Podcast where we talk about that journey and how it led me to where I am today.

I grabbed one of the $35 family meals from Whole Foods and turned it into 4 meal prep containers for about $8.75 per meal.

Each container had:
• 4 oz salmon
• 6 oz fingerling potatoes
• 4.75 oz green beans

Honestly, for the convenience and quality, this is a pretty solid option for busy people trying to eat healthier without spending hours cooking.

Trying to prove healthy eating doesn’t have to be complicated or ridiculously expensive.

And that’s a Tasty Takedown. 🥊

There was a time after the military where my life was pure chaos.

Drinking every weekend.
Fighting.
Playing in a punk band.
Trying to outrun things I never dealt with.

What changed my life was finally getting help through the VA after somebody close to me at the time pushed me to stop pretending I was fine.

That decision changed everything.

I quit drinking.
Went to college.
Earned my degree.
Found Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Found purpose.
Found peace.

That’s why I wanted to share this clip. Because there are veterans out there struggling silently right now, and I promise you this:

Your life is not over.
You are not weak for asking for help.
And things can absolutely get better.

I’m always looking for realistic ways to eat healthier without spending hours cooking… so I decided to test one of the Whole Foods family meals and see if I can turn it into multiple healthy meal prep bowls for around $35. 👀🍱

Full breakdown coming next.
